install remote start

I was just wondering if its possible to install a remote start in a 2007 maxima while retaining the original maxima remote. Ive seen 5 button remotes with one button for remote start. How hard would it be and where can I get the hardware? Thanks!

I have a 07 with a remote start. I use the factory remote, tap lock three times to activate it. A separate remote is inconvenient. It will cost more

Not worth the headache. More power drain, more electronics that could potentially blow up etc

factory fob remote start

its extremely easy any installer at any shop can do it for you, basically just have them install a standard remote start such as a viper or any DEI brand, this will come with 2 remotes which u can keep at home for times you may need extended range as the factory fob don't have as much range as after market, also tell them you want it on factory fob lock 3x, a lot of bypass modules will do this automtically now a days, but even if they use a brand that doesn't you can have the installer wire a relay to the lock MOTOR wire convert that (+) pulse using a relay to a (-) pulse and then that gets attached to the start activation wire on the remote start brain, (white/blue) stripe wire on DEI products, this may all sound complicated but any installer should have absolutely no problem doing this for you at all

Mine is made by Directed Electronic. Most alarm shops use this or similar stuff. some shops install systems using separate remotes which to me is inconvenient having to carry two around. Mine is like 5 years old so thing probably changed. I used a shop that installs for new car dealers also, so their alway seem to use the newest stuff. jwsv is correct, factory remotes do have less range. Call a local shop and see what they have.

Avital system has been great for several years for me! It's a tiny additional one button remote that is on a key ring connected to my key fob. It also has very long range.
