May have did damage to my engine due to ice in wheel well

Hey guys,

Where I live we got a ton of snow. So what happen was I drove to work yesterday, and shortly after we got hit hard with snow. After a few hours I left work early to drive home, but in the process of driving home I accumulated a lot of snow inside the wheel wells of my car.

So, I woke up this morning, cleared all the snow off my car, and tried to move my car backwards, and none of the wheels would move. In the process of trying to move the car I got a strong smell of something burning inside.

I tired moving it again, and the same thing happened. My first though was the car wasn't moving because of all the snow on the ground, but the problem was all the ice that was hardened up overnight in the wheel well.

The burning smell couldn't have been the tires, because they were not spinning, due to being locked in place because of the ice.

How much damage you think could have been done to the motor?

I doubt if you did any damage to the engine. If you damaged anything, it would be the transmission.

If you have the manual transmission, it would probably be the clutch disk burning.

If you have an automatic transmission, it shouldn't have damaged anything unless you were revving the engine for over a half hour.

Yeah slush and snow seems to be attracted to wheel wells. Here in Chicago, we'd have the same problem. Then at nighttime the temperatures and wind chills would combine to turn the slush/snow into ice.
I just got used to cleaning out the wheel well of snow/slush before parking it for an extended amount of time. Usually using the brush end of a snow brush was enough to loosen things up.
