Reverse/backup lights not working!!
#2
I had the same problem on 2007, I replaced the bulbs as I had bought it used and didn't know how old they were; this did not fix the problem and I went looking for a fuse. There is no fuse but a relay switch in the fuse box under the dash. Can't remember what it is labeled but I will check if you need me to. It was the same relay switch as the one for my heated seats which I don't use so I just swapped them. Now my backup lights work. I am getting older and as I write this the relay switch might have been under the hood and the one for the seats under the dash. Hope this helps. If need be I will confirm where they are located.

Check fuse # 14 for grins and giggles. It powers other things besides the backup lights, but it's possible you haven't noticed them. Fuse # 14 is in the dash, bottom row, 3rd from the left end.
Otherwise, if the bulbs are good, you may have a problem with the switch in the transmission or the wiring.
There is no relay shown in the wiring diagram for backup lights, so I would be interested in knowing what relay James is referring to.

Fuses # 5 and 7 for the front sockets and fuse # 17 for the rear socket. All 3 of the fuses are 15 amp.
In you photo, on the left side, start at the bottom and count up 5 spaces (count space # 2 that is empty) to fuse # 5, the blue fuse. Count up 2 more to fuse # 7, another blue fuse.
For fuse 17, look on the right side. Start at the bottom and count up 6 spaces (count the empty space)
Fuse # 5 runs 2 of the 3 front sockets, so if you have a lot of things plugged in, this may be the blown fuse.

on my 2007 Maxima there is a relay switch inside the fuse box next to the battery under the hood. The relay switch is marked Rev Lamp, when I swapped this relay with the one under the dash for the heated seats my reverse lights worked. I live in Az and do not need heated seats. I did price the relay and it is around $13 from both Napa and Auto Zone. I hope this helps.
