Replacement key

Hey Guys
I have a 2008 Maxima and lost one of my keys. I called about 4 dealerships in the area (DC metro area) and the cost of the key is $200+ (this does not include programming). I'm sure they are folks here that have replaced one of their intelligent keys, so looking for tips on how to go about this. I've looked at ebay and the keys there are definitely cheaper but not sure if they actually work. I have a feeling that dealerships in other states might be cheaper, so any tips will be appreciated. Thanks.

A simple search would have yielded blanks for much less. https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q...ima+key+blanks

A dealer should charge you no more than 75 bucks to program

The programming fee here is about $125. Also, I read somewhere that if the dealership programs the key and it does not work, then they wont be responsible since the key was not bought from them. That's why I was wondering if anybody actually bought a key from ebay and had it successfully programmed at the dealership. I'm not really active on this forum anymore but when I used to a few years ago, there was a guy who worked at a dealership who used to frequent the forums. Was trying to see if he was still around though.

Hey dtahsee,

I'm in the same boat as you. I've done some research but came up empty as to whether ebay keys are worth buying. Dealerships around the DMV charge outrageous prices to purchase and reprogram keys among other things. I have one key left and it isn't working all that great. I will let you know if I find something.

Get a blank key from Ebay / or go to Home Depot (there are couple of them that can program such keys- you need to call around). I had mine programmed there.
