Got a code for a part my 07' dosent even have.

I have an 07' Maxima 3.5L S.E. CVT trans. Recently its been sputtering and struggling to go after 20MPH. When im off the gas the RPM gauge just goes nuts. I didnt have a C.E.L. or trans light on so i was perplexed. I changed the plugs, wires & PCV and still nothing. Today I took it to the carwash then planned on it sitting in my garage for a while. Because my mechanic said its probly 1of3 cat/cons and we should do all 3 for over $1000. Anyways after the carwash i started it up. And for the 1st time in my life i was happy to see a C.E.L. I was a couple blocks from autozone. So I ran there and they checked the code. And it turned out to be the idle air control valve. I was relieved. We then proceeded inside for a price. It said this vehicle is not equipped with that part? How can it read a code for something that isnt there? And does anyone have a clue what this means. I was totally lost before. Now im absolutely completely at a loss. Please Help if youve experienced this. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Get the code read again. Those guys at autozone don't always an automotive background and mis-read the scanner. One time I went to autozone when my check engine light was on and they told me I had code P0308 - cylinder 8 misfire. And they argued with me when I told them the car was only a 6 cylinder.

And get the code number this time.

I tried calling autozone to see if he remembered code & he didnt. I bought a code reader. And got: P0507 Idle air control.... Rpm at an unusual level?

I went & bought a code reader. And I got P0507 "Idle air control Rpm is higher then usual". The guy at autozone told me the computer said "Your vehicle is not equipped with that part". When I got home I checked autozone.com & typed in idle air control valve. I got the same thing you showed me. But it was called the intake manifold air control valve. Do you think it is that part? Because after autozone I started hearing a motor struggling. And traced it back to the throttle body motor that allows air into engine. I just changed mass air flow sensor. And nuthing. My next step was gonna be the throttle body because i never heard that sound until all this. I think either the sensor isnt telling the throttle body motor the right amount to open. Or The throttle body motor/actuator are shot. Thanks for responding. Sweet ride

Well I think I learned a valuable Lesson with this. Hopefully someone else can learn from my experience. So I learned that just because a code reader is giving you a fault for a part. It dosent mean that that is the problem. It could be something else causing that part to throw a fault code. Which isnt being mentioned or even thought of. I ended up changing: 1)Mass airflow sensor $25, complete throttle body $125 & Intake manifold control valve $60. After changing all that I needed to do an idle relearn. But my idle was still to high (about 1100). So, I took it for a little ride around the block. And realized it still drove like crap. But now it was like I was on ice at the end of a stop. And I had experience with that. It ended up being a dirty ABS sensor that I cleaned with a $2.50 can of brake cleaner. This caused the whole problem. But I didnt know because the day I got the IACV fault (which is not on this car) I parked it in the garage. I never got to feel the ABS sensor make it like ice stopping. Plus the ABS light never came on and nothing about brakes came up on my code reader. Good thing I took it for a drive today. Because my plan was to take to my mechanic & let him figure it out. Please learn from my stupid expensive mistake. And just cause you get a fault code. It dosent always mean that its that part that is bad. It could be another part making that one malfunction and throw a fault code. Also just because your ABS light isnt on. It dosent mean you dont have a problem with your brake system.

Here the issue since I do work for AZ and the computer part look up always to be blame that your car doesn't have it since some of the guys does not know that most new cars have a throttle body unit which you have to replace as one pieces unlike the older cars where you can get idle air control or the throttle position sensor as a separate part. In your case your car is the hold throttle body which unfortunately costly also not a simple plug and play which require the unit to be program to communicate to the accelerator pedal sensor to make it function properly.n I hope that clears up any confusion hopefully you got the problem code resolved
