Driver side fan not working.
Driver side fan not working.
Hello everyone!
I am new to the site and I'm in need of a little info if anyone is willing to lend a little knowledge to me.
I have a 2007 Maxima with a driver side fan that will not turn on. I've done an extensive search for what could fix this problem and where to start. What I can't find is which of the 3 cooling fan relays goes to this fan. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advanced
Amanda

The cooling fan relays are located under the hood in the Intelligent Power Distribution Module (IPDM). The IPDM is by the passenger side headlight. The relays are kind of in the middle of the IPDM, along side the shorter row of fuses. Working from the outside edge of the IPDM, the relays are numbered 3, 1, 2.

However, each one of the 3 relays is connected to both fans, so it is hard to say which specific relay may be at fault. one relay, #2 supplies the ground for the fan motors.
The 3 relays are the same part, so if you want to play musical relays, swap them all around and see if it makes any difference. Personally, I think it is far more likely that both of you have a burned out fan motor.

I think I am going to do a whole write-up on the importance of owning a decent multimeter.
IMO for ALL electircal problems check for voltage at the source (in your case the fan connections), if you are getting voltage you don't have to bother with looking for fuses ect.
I think we tend to forget these electrical moving parts just die sometimes and need replacing.
If you haven't fixed this problem already or even if you did and don't have one..Buy a multimeter.. $20 tops
