New Maxima Owner - AC/Heater Blower Problem

I bought a 2005 Maxima a few weeks back for my son to drive back and forth to college and so far we really like it.

However, he comes home today with an unusual problem. Blower on the climate control shows it is on one bar, but it blows full power no matter what you do. I have switched Auto off, turned it off completely, switched from dual to single and nothing affects it. It will switch from the different vents, but it stays full blast.

Any clue where to begin with this? Never owned a Maxima, but I have worked on every other vehicle I have owned and am pretty good with most stuff.

Any help would be appreciated!

Blower motor resistor. When this component fails, the only speed available is high, because the fan receives full battery voltage.

Replacement is quite simple. It is located in the blower duct under the glove box. It is also available at most auto parts stores. No need to go to the dealer for this part.

Excellent! Thank you for the help!

I found it tonight. Going to make my son take it out and replace it so he can get used to this type of repair when I am not around.

Thanks again for the help!
