07 Maxima won't accelerate in drive ..

I'm having several different problems with my car at the moment & need some input on what it might be.. I do have the common knowledge most should know about a vehicle but I'm no mechanic.. so I was on the way home from work and while I was driving it seems like my car lost power , then the battery & brake light both came on. I pulled over and cut my car off (was going to try just restarting it). Well when I crunk my car up , it sounds good, revs up great (while in nuetral) but once I switch it to drive it has no power & just creeps forward .. mind you it will also creep in reverse , but will only idle up when in nuetral or park.. PLEASE help or suggest if you've had this problem before ..

(UPDATE: Ive seen a lot of posts that are similar to mine saying the cause of this may be the camshaft sensors. I have now replaced both the front & back sensors and I am still running across the same problem)

Is there anyway I can check to see if its the alternator & not the battery without having to buy one of the two first?

I just had my alternator checked, and let me tell you, taking the alternator off is a pain in the ***, so look on the forums for volt testing procedures

I took mine to the dealer for these symptoms and they found the camshaft sensors were bad. Bad design but new parts fixed bad design. max was back to new.

Usually when it goes in to fail safe mode its the cam sensor closest to firewall. Check code and if so change both.

I am having same issues with my daughters 05 maxima and today I am getting ready to check her catalytic converters I think they could be plugged up some where there is no check engine light. So I hope I can figure this out.

All the fail safe modes, and failures, yet no one reported a check engine code? Somewhere with these problems a code should have appeared. ......
