burping cooling system after radiator replacement

i'm going to replace my radiator this weekend, so as the title says, how should I go about burping the air out of the system? I already ordered one of those Lisle spill free funnels. Do I just fill the system with coolant and turn on the car until no more bubbles come up(10-15minutes)? or should I follow some more steps before, during, after? Thanks, much appreciated.

That's pretty much it. I'd pinch off the hose to the coolant reservoir too.

Raising up the front end I think would help. I've seen that done, not actually done it myself. Gravity will help the air get to the radiator

okay, thanks. Any tips on doing that? I have hose clamp pliers for the transmission oil lines, but those aren't meant to be used when car is actually on.

Oh yeah, I had that in mind too but forgot to include it. thanks for the reminder, though.

You can raise the front if you'd like. I don't think it's absolutely necessary when using a spill proof funnel. But it won't hurt either.

You can rev the engine too, it helps push out the air.

I use some plastic locking pliers made for rubber hoses. You could also hang the reservoir high. Or if your funnel adapter seals off that hose you don't need to mess with it at all. You just don't want coolant over filling it and spilling out of the reservoir.

Here's my truck. Note you don't need the second clamp on a Max.

I have some of those plastic hose clamp pliers as well. I'll just use one of those to pinch off the reservoir hose. Also, I don't have to mess with turning on the heater? Im just asking because I did so when burping my parent's truck. Thanks, by the way.

Hey, another question. Do you think it is necessary to replace the thermostat and radiator cap ? do you suggest that I do? my car isnt overheating. radiator is just leaking.

Yeah, I'd install a new thermostat since it's only a little extra work now. It's cheap enough too. I wouldn't worry about the cap.
