cooling system

Anyone can help me with my car cooling system? It pumps out the coolant to the reservoir tank and makes the resevoir overflow most of the time. From my understanding the coolant should flow back into the radiator but mine flows back into the radiator only after I turn off the car and it takes a while. The temp gets high too. Thanks for any help.

Your t-stat sounds fubared. It may be staying closed and/or not opening adequately. You've been here long enough to know where to find the how-to in the stickys, so I'll let you do that.

Sounds like your thermostat is stuck closed or you have a clogged radiator. Start off with the thermostat first since its a pretty cheap and easy fix.

After u replace the T-stat and flush your radiator if there`s still any problems ,do the following

wait till the car is cool, open up the metal cap on the radiator. Turn on your car and set temp setting at hottest. start filling up the radiator till it is full, wait till the car warm up and coolent starts to boil, rev the engine abit and squeez top and bottom hose to get rid of all the bubbles. top it out, close the cap. full up ur resevior.

If symtoms comes back, look for oil in ur coolent, look for coolent in your oil. look at ur spark pulg see if theres any signs of coolent...which indicat a very good chance of a blown headgasket

idk if this is what your car is doing but i had the overheating element of ur problem, except my car would 'dump' the coolant. (more like 'weep' from an area near the water pump) It turned out to be the water pump acting up.

I jammed a wrench back there to get to the bottom bolt and the back bolt.
