Key doesn't unlock door, with a disconnected battery.

I tried to unlock my 2007 Maxima today to do some work on it. But when I took the key out of the key fob, the door lock wouldn't turn to unlock door. I tried to turn the key a little harder later on, but didn't want to break it.

I disconnected to battery because it was an auction vehicle that hadn't been started in awhile.

I have been reading from forums that some people say the driver door lock is mechanical, so it should unlock with the key. But, I think other people have said that the lock is controlled electronically (Wouldn't be a smart thing to do if you make cars, etc.).

Should I spray some wd-40 in the lock mechanisms?

Is there a hidden trunk lock I don't know about, to possibly gain access to inside from trunk?

Yes, the key lock is mechanical as well as electrical. The mechanical is the fail safe...if your key port is not seized.

The trunk release outside of the car is electrical...so, if you have no power, then you're kind of in a bind.

Call a locksmith to unlock the car, or get these (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Winbag-O...7302/303480393), and unlock the mechanical switch on the inside of the door with a coat hanger.
