Engine Noise

Just did an oil change on my 07 with 120k miles and was wondering if this is normal or rod knocking? I just started noticing I'm burning oil although since it just started I have no clue how much I am losing per miles. I've owned it since 104k miles and have done 5k oil intervals and the previous two owners took very good care of it getting serviced etc. This is my first car so don't flame me if this is normal engine sound lol!

Sounds normal to me. There is lifter noise but that is normal, too. The sound is a little deep, so you may have a small exhaust leak. Others here will chime in, so they may hear something I am not hearing.

As for burning oil, that is normal. How much is the question. Loss of engine oil, besides normal amounts, is caused by "weeping," which is what you will see around the engine parts and their respective gaskets. That would be very typical for your car and the age and be a reason for some oil loss.

Figure how much oil you are going thru. For example, what does the oil dipstick look like after a specific amount of driving, say a week or 500 miles. That will give us some perspective and allow us to comment on your issue.

Also, some advice: (1) change your engine oil every 3000k miles at a good shop and (2) don't idle the engine.
