A/f sensor too short

Hello everyone. I need multiple new o2 sensors, and I'm trying to put in one of the upstream sensors, I have headers and I got the sensor plugged into it, but it's not long enough to reach the plastic clip at the other end! Is there some way to extend it to fit? The other issue is that it's running into something else (the AC compressor I believe, not certain though), that's why it needed to be replaced to begin with - how does one fix issues when things are too close/running into other parts? I'm relatively new to all of this, still learning as I go! Any advice is appreciated!
