anyone get the cloth seats?
anyone get the cloth seats?
well, if i pull the trigger on a maxima, it will be in about 3 months or so. by that time i am hoping to see some nice discounts and i think i will be able to get the employee 'friends' discount, which i am unsure of how much that is. i live in smyrna, tn close to the plant.
anyway, it will be a company car/personal car and i would be putting close to 45k miles a year...its my office. anyway, to help keep cost down, since i will be upside down quick with that many miles on the car...i was looking at the cloth interior. normally i hate cloth, but the one i saw was almost a suede material. the nicest 'cloth' i had seen. anyone have it? happy ? or wish you weant the leather route?
id like a SV with sport, but dont think i wanna pay for the tech and prem, even though id love to have the features...
oh well, ill spend too much in replacing tires alone ,especially if i go sport route.
what do those tires run on those 19'' wheels? 20k miles? prolly cost $200 ea to replace?

Yep; SV with no additional packages is $31,990 MSRP ($29,301 invoice). I would think only a little looking around should get you an SV for $29,500. The dealer holdback on an SV is $586, so the dealer would be taking in around $785 profit if you paid $29,500. In some situations (late in the month, sales push, dealer needs cash quick, etc, etc), I would bet you could maybe go $29,300 without a lot of begging on an SV.
The SV is a rather nicely equipped ride. Leather seating, fog lights, LED turn indicators on outside mirrors, digital Bose audio, Homelink Universal Transceiver, digital compass, driver seat adjustable thigh support extension, and power lumbar support. Not bad at all.
the close to black dark charcoal grey clothe seats look pretty good and feel nice in summer and winter do not have to sweat or freeze and do not have to worry of sun damage...my 2 cents go with the cloth...
I bought the base S that came with the Charcoal cloth seats and I think there is nothing wrong with them. I have never been a leather guy because I hate getting into a blazing hot seat in the summer. The cloth is easy to maintain as spills will wipe right off if caught early.
Base maxima on Ebay $28,776. I do not know what chargers are added to the " buy it now price" after the fact.

I would wait and get them from salvage or ebay....if you get black ill swap trunks with you when i get my sport...i hate that spoiler....
Im a Yokohama fan so I would go with the S.Drive tires, $198 on tirerack.com, 19 run anywhere between 200-500 a tire, becareful of what tire places do installs cause they like to add fees that add another couple bills to the total.
At least three Atlanta Nissan dealers (Gwinnett Place, Sutherland, Team) have been advertising base '09 Maximas for right at $26,800, which happens to be right at invoice.
$26,800??? That's tempting, But I love my 04 too much to let it go right now. And it'll also be paid off in 2.5 years.
my friend just picked one up for $26,800 and he got the base. (silver/blk)
I didn't mind the cloth seats. Don't spend the extra $$ if you cannot afford it. Remember, leather is a luxury item so you can live without it..
either way, god luck with your purchase and take your time with the dealers.

In Wednesday's Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Gwinnett Place Nissan is advertising two base Maximas (VIN serials 822325 and 822888) at $26,477. That is, of course, $355 BELOW INVOICE.
This is easily the furthest below invoice I have seen advertised for an '09 Maxima. I don't know the story behind this. I would have guessed these two vehicles may have been on the lot too long, and used several months as test-drive vehicles, except cars with those particular VIN serials were assembled within the last 6 weeks or so.
Gwinnett Place is on the opposite side of Atlanta from me, and I have never dealt with them. All I know is that they are a high-volume dealer; their ad says they sell a car every 29 minutes. Their ad also says no cash down, zero APR for 60 months, and zero payments until 2009.
But I couldn't help but notice the ad says these cars have Navigation. That, of course, is obviously a serious mistake.
I may have to lower my offer on that beautiful white SV with premium and tech I'm trying to buy.

yes ive seen ppl staring hard at the '09 max...especially when i was at best buy the other day and had it parked against the curb...i dont believe they knew what it was...ive never seen anyone look twice at an accord
am i the only logical person who's read the OP's post?
1st of all OP leather is like a 1k option. 1k isn't going to matter when your going to be horribly upside down...
if you even drive close to 50k miles a year your a fool for buying a new car, let alone a new maxima. you'll be 10k upside down in 2 years if not sooner and by more. i used to sell cars your going to be screwing yourself BIG time. in 4 years, before your loan is paid off your looking at 200k on the odometer. a 4 year old maxima with 200k isn't worth crap, have fun trying to sell it and a stealership will **** rape you if you try to trade it in because they know it will be hard as hell to sell as well. Only a cash buying can buy it. and they don't come along often at all. the reason it's hard to sell is NO BANK IN THE WORLD will give a loan for a car with 200k miles on it or anything close. say you get a 6 year loan by then you'd be looking at 300k before it's paid off. IF it lasts 300k which isn't likely. yes they are great engines but FEW ever make it past 250k. and then you'll have paid 30k+ just to drive a car for 6 years. it's a HORRIBLE investment.
What you should do is buy a 4 banger that gets excellent gas mileage and is cheap as ****. you save money all over the place no car payments, spend 1/2 as much on gas(which adds up quick), cheap *** insurance, and you don't have to care about it if it gets a ding or damaged. i wouldn't pay more then 5k TOPS regardless of what daily driver you buy. personally i'd buy a 4th 5spd gen for 3k and drive it into the ground...decent acceleration comfortable etc.
keep all that money your saving on insurance, car payments, and gas that you would be paying on the new 2009 maxima and throw em into a bank account every month. in three years go buy a used 2009 skyline for a 'fun car' with all your saved up money. you'd at least have close to 20-25k for a DP if not more...
edit #1: you said it's a company car but you'd be upside down in it. so obviously the company isn't paying for it. unless you can write off everything legally which you very well may be able to...like i can because technically i'm self employed. every meal out, money spent, it all goes to my business. i'm not a business man, i'm a business man.
edit #2: If you need a 'new' car because style means something for your business which it obviously could effect the people with whom your meeting with. Get a 4 banger, ontop of that look at hybrids. if i drove 50k a year i'd be humping a used camry hybrid(you get to save $ on gas and help the environment it's a double banger...and who doesn't like to bang twice?) not an brand new 09 maxima...

I came from a car with cloth seats, nothing wrong with them but I just love leather seats, it's more luxurious and sexier. People cry about having hot seats or cold seats when they get in their car due to weather but it's gonna be like that either way, maybe not your seats if you get cloth but the temperature in the car, and I park in the deck at school or mall and I have tinted windows, so that helps, and if you take care of your car, like everything else, you don't need to worry about uv damage, and other maintenance issues. Leather is just a whole nother level than cloth.

I just picked up mine yesterday and I got the S model. Let me tell you, I don't regret it at ALL!!!!!!! The cloth seats are fine and very comfortable and the standard features on the S model is more that other car makers will give you on their base models. If you're looking to save some cash, and the "bells and whistles" don't mean much to you then get the S model.
Baccala - Welcome to the ORG. Keep us informed on your experiences with your new baby.
In reading through this thread (the part PRIOR to Baccala's post), some posts were worded in a manner that suggested the buyer had a choice between cloth and leather. The seat surface choice can ONLY be made by MODEL selection.
ALL 'S' (base) Maximas have ONLY cloth seats. Leather is NOT an option on the 'S'.
ALL 'SV' Maximas, no matter what options or packages may be on the car, have ONLY leather seats. Cloth is NOT an option on the 'SV'.

I hope you really don't think the dealer only makes 785$ profit on a car they sell...its a lot more than that, a lot.

Well aware. My friend Scott Smith owns two Nissan dealerships. I don't wish to bare all his dirty linen here.
When we think about the costs of running a dealership with dozens of employees (Scott actually has over a hundred employees between his two dealerships) on a prime piece of well-lit (and highly taxed) property while running full-page color ads in a major newspaper, we have to understand all those expenses won't be covered by making minimal profits on vehicles. The dealer has to make a meaningful profit on most cars in order to maintain his way of doing business. That is just the reality of the situation.

I wanted the leather seats but didn't want to pay the price for them. The cloth seats look nice, but the only thing I don't like is the stitching. The dealer said it is red, but it looks pink. Other than stitching, they look great.
This stitching has been interesting. I noticed over a year ago that the 'red' was a different shade in cars sitting side-by-side on my dealer's lot. This stitching varies from red to pink, with several shades of red, a few shades I call 'fuschia', and even variations of maroon. I have no idea why we have this wide variation.
