Rims on their 7th Gen Max MEGA Thread!
#3165
Got some 18" rims to replace the bent OE 18" rims on the car. 18" or 19" was a tough decision, the roads I drive on are pretty bad (i684, saw mill pkwy, etc) are rough and I was worried about bending the new rims, I tend to have a lot of people in the car who sometimes comments about the ride being a little rough, and 18" tires are a lot less expensive...so I thought the practical choice was 18". Now I kind of regret it (buyer’s remorse stinks). If I ever got around to getting an akenbono caliper upgrade I don't think it will fit. But all in all happy with the rims. Probably would have looked better with a smaller offset. These are 45, maybe a 40 or high 30s? Thinking about getting some try spacers when I get some more funds.
We we live in the same area (I’m in white plains) so I know exactly what you mean as far as roads. 9A in Elmsford is a complete abomination of a road. I seriously don’t even understand how they get away with a road being that bad.
When I changed over to the 19 rays,I noticed a difference. A big difference in my opinion. I actually have to get an alignment and balance this week. But as they say, beauty is pain.
Now ow I have the akebonos, they will be going in a couple weeks. Since I have to change the wheels during the winter,I will have to get spacers in order for the oem 18s to clear in the winter.
Those oem 18s look good. Get a set of coil overs and it’ll look great

ESR SR01 18x10.5
Hey guys this is my first post, although I've had my Maxima for a little while now. But I'm running Tru Hart Street Plus Coilovers (lowered 2.75 inches) with ESR SR01 18x10.5 with Toyo Prox ES tires. The ride is great. A bit of tire rub from rear fenders when I'm going 65+mph over large dips but nothing major. I would lower more but I have full 2.5" exhaust piping from the cat back so that right there already has my center of gravity lower throughout the middle section. It is difficult to make it over speed bumps as it is so I'm as low as I'm willing to go for the moment.

@ Dirtyred - Did you drop your ride? In your previous post, you were asking how to fix your gap issues. If so, can you list your specs? I'm about to get some new (used) rims and I like you wheel setup. I'm getting some 20x9, but I'm thinking of going with the 40 series tires because the roads here in Dallas are a little rough.

245/35/20...still have stock suspension, not too sure yet if I want to change that up yet. Haven’t done anything other than the wheels, added the led fog lights, lower grill and the cheap lower lip. Next thing will probably be some light tint and add a little something to the stock Bose system. I would like to hear the pros and cons of having her suspension done. I do like the look when they have been lowered a little.

Question on them beauties
Question for you brother, these look great first and foremost. I'm installing some 19's of a similar style and wondering if you are running stock suspension on your maxi. Newbie to the modification game, had my 2014 maxima for about 2 years now.
Thanks,
Tom

Need help
right now my car is dropped on BC coilovers and I’m trying to find the right combination of width and offset for doing 19s. Anyone running 19s right now and lowered that can help. Ideally I want the rims to be flush with the body. Here’s the car now with the stock 18s

fitment..
So I have a 2012 SV, lowering on godspeed springs (1.3ish all around) same as eibach, running 20mm spacers in front now and 25mm in rear but getting rid and getting rims. trying to get away from staggered (unless its not a big deal) but i love the fitment. i want 19x9.5’s but have 0 idea anything about offset... if someone can let me know whats the best on a square setup would be very appreciated
first post btw, been reading the forum for months just never bothered to sign up

seems you want at least 9.5". Theres a post just above thats got 8.5's +35 offset and not completely flush, even with a 5mm spacer on the rear. I am running factory right now with a 20mm spacer up front and a 25mm in the rear and its flush.

First post!
Hey fam, this is my first post in this forum. I’ve really enjoyed looking through the feed and gaining inspiration from all of you. I’ve had my 2014 Maxima for about 2.5 years now. I’ve been riding on these 20x9 Spec-1 wheels for awhile now, but I’ve always despised the wheel gap. So I think I’m ready to finally lower my car but I don’t want to compromise ride comfort too much. Anyone have experience with BC coil overs on 20x9 inch wheels and if it effects ride comfort all that much? I don’t want to go too low since this is my daily driver. I’m thinking a drop of an inch or so. Any feedback would be awesome.

nice whip I love it . You don’t have rubbing issues ? Smooth ride ? Are you suspensions completely stock .? They look good barely gender gap but I say drop it 0.5-1 inch.

So I have a 13 maxima that have the Navi/tech pack with the Bose system So I don’t use my navigation at all and I want to get rid of it to the non navigation. So I want to change my radio bezel so my ac/heat will be at the top instead at the bottom.. So have anyone done that before I want to see if it worked for somebody else. I want to see if I can change the top pic bezel to the second pic.. and would it work??

Hey everyone, I'm not huge into rims/suspension (a combination of money, not really into the attention, and the landmine roads in NYC) but I've been eyeing those earlier 19" stock rims. In the pics I've seen, they look really clean once they're a different color.
Question is, has anyone ever tried vinyl wrapping their rims & know about the durability? I've had pretty thick Anthracite Grey plastidip on my stock 18s and it's been great so far (minus a small rock cup I can probably retouch). I find vinyl easier to work with than paint so wondering if it would be worth it. Looking to get a used pair, sand down any curb rash, then just throw the vinyl on top & use my 18s for winter.

I've read they're more resistant to scratches and become extremely strong. I'm not a fan of curb rash and hope that helps with avoiding it.
Have you made a decision to paint or wrap?

The 7th Gen 19 inch wheels prior to the mid-cycle refresh are lovely. So lovely that I just bought some and received them yesterday. I don't have experience with painting or wrapping them but plan on getting them powder coated.

I'm still looking for some more testimonials on wrapped wheels. I just want to find out if brake heat & dust will cause it to lift. I imagine the flexibility of the material will allow it to resist small chips better than paint. Powder coat is definitely the way to go if you have the funds. What color are you thinking of/color of your ride?
