I work for the Nissan dealer on my island so I had my salesperson take my car to be tinted before I took delivery. Cost me $240 cash, since it's illegal. I went with 5% black tint all the way around. I believe legal here in Hawaii is 35%. But I have to say, the tint made my car look super sleek. No comparison to the stock look. I haven't gotten pulled over yet (crossing my fingers) but I think the fine is like $300 per window!

Huper Optik is the best, had it on my previous car for 5 years and it still looked brand new when I got rid of it. It's made with ceramics and really works well, we know tint in Arizona it's hot as hell here and the cheap s*!# won't do in this environment.

I have legal tint all around on my Max. Looks fantastic. Legal is perfect for me since I use mine for business and drive in multiple states. Also dark tint at night really stinks.

I wish tinting was legal here. The law in Alberta clearly states no tint can be applied in the front windows. I don't want anything dramatic just some tinting to go with the paint but they are ridiculously strict here about it. Boo!

I had my windows tinted 2 days ago for $150 with Llumar 20%. In SC the windows have to pass 27% light. Is 27% common in a lot of states? If so, why don't companies who make tint make something between 35% and 20% that would be legal?

I do love it so far!

Nevermind about the above. It appears most states that allow tinting are between 30-35%.

Can you post some pictures? I am in Virginia and here its 50% front, 35% back and rear. I'm not sure if I want to get two different shades so I have wanted to see what 50% all around looks like.

Love the ride....and I also noticed that you said you worked in Hawaii!!!! Does that mean you are a local Sistah or you just live in Hawaii??? I am a LOCAL boy, born and raised in Waianae, Oahu and graduated from Waianae High out in Makaha!!!

I do miss Hawaii so much and have not been home since 2005 ahhhh due to my service to the country! But I do remember those strict laws on tint and was actually pulled over one night while cruising up and down Kuhio and Kalakaua downtown for loud music and the officer also tacked on a dark tint fine as well......I hope you don't get pulled over and avoid those fines!!!

Has anyone noticed the TPMS signals not getting thru to the interior?

I was warned to watch out for that if using metallic tints.

Should not use metallic tints at all with this car, messes up the radio signal on the back window. Should use carbon film.

I have yet to get my 09 tinted but my 06 had 15% on it for 3 years, and I never had a problem, got stopped twice and received a warning both times, both times I'm sure the cops were just making sure everything was in check, my area is full of tinted cars, and NY does not allow anything darker then 70% and NJ wants nothing on the front windows.

I did receive a tint ticket in Virginia, passed through a speed trap and the cop got me, it was either a reckless driving ticket with a mandatory court date, or speeding and a tint citation, I went with the speeding and tint, ticket was 200 bucks, the actual tint fine was like $35, cheap by NY/NJ standards, the car was a 300C with 5% all around with NY plates, the cop was cool but it was probably the easiest revenue he made, out of state I never had a chance

It was funny cause I told the cop the car was my brother's who was sitting in the passenger seat, and it was tinted for his privacy, as well as living in Marietta/ATL Georgia, to avoid the sun, but the Virginia State trooper knew the NY tint limits as well as the Georgia tint limits and since it was 5%, which was illegal in both states I got a ticket

Get her a fake one or make it smaller, I am sure she will go for it.

How can you do all windows for $100, on my previous car I paid a guy/shop $250, with all work guaranteed as long as I owned the car, work was not perfect and when I returned I got the run around until I decided to just live with it, now I will wait until I'm in ATL to have my windows tinted, I already have 2 places I will never return to

Just venting I just find it odd that it's clearly an easy business to make money in but the potential to damage cars or not do a perfect job is easy, and the person who loses is the customer

Looking to get 20% all around on my max. Has anyone had difficulty viewing the driver's sideview mirror at night due to the auto-dim feature?

Not supposed to use metallic tint messes up the radio signal. Your radio antenna is on the back window not all of those lines are for defrost. The installer should have known this.

BLUE TINT? Is that car blue or silver? I am thinking silver. Then why would you put a blue tint? I know black will always top the line in tints. More classy and decent looking.

lol.. yea that is what i tought when he said.. blue tint.. my wife drives a 08 MB ML and both front windows and front windshield have a blue hue to it.. and looks very good. Wanted a similiar look on my car.. and came out just the same.. very clean.. beleave me.. Im very special when it comes to my cars.. i would never get anything that would look odd it has a very clean light blue into it.. almost as if I has tinted over the ML windows.. You would have to see it to really apriciate it. the blue is vearly noticiable but its there..

Do you guys have any issues with the Llumar tint and am radio working? I've always used Llumar and loved it, however, on my last car the radio antenna was in the rear window and it messed up the signal.

Been using Llumar for years without any issues, but then again, I have not listen to my AM radio in years! Regular FM works great!

I honestly have not even turned on terrestrial radio once since I bought the car. Can't stand it. I'll have to try it and see now that you mention it though.

I can say I too have been using Llumar for years and have never had a problem in any of my cars.

also for those who do not know, do not use Windex or window/glass cleaners that have ammonia in it on your tint, use either straight water, or cleaner with-out ammonia. You ever see those cars with the tint looking blueish/purplish and peeling off? That's what ammonia does to your tint.
