you can get kits to do this to any car. easy to install too. They even have DIY instructions on the net.

same reason you would want suicide doors, lambo kits, flipflop trunks, gullwing doors, fender flares, rear diffuser, wings, body kits, split hoods, body lift kits, etc. You know where I am going with this. To each their own. Everyone wants to be different. Uniqueness is a good thing. I like the saturn sky, and pontiac solstice. They come stock with a hood like that.

I hear you on that. Uniqueness is something I'm shooting for but I'm also trying to ensure I maintain as much of the normal usefulness of the original items.

For me a hood that opens the opposite direction is counterdefeating because now you have to do everything you planned on doing under the hood from the side or you gonna have to remove the hood to get at certain things.

I like practical applicability so this would be unpractical for me.

Thanks for the vote for uniqueness though.

Don't forget the safety implication to a mod like this.

The factory design was worked in as part of an overall system to absorb energy, and protect the driver.
You remove the hinge pillars in teh rear of the hood, there's a chance a good front end collision could put
that thing right through the glass and into the passenger compartment with all the velocity of the impact,
and without having crumpled first.

Definitely should re-think any hood mod before doing it...is it worth dying for it.
