Nissan replaces anything that is defective up to 12,000 miles or 12 months. I had mine changed at my dealer and they also adjusted the arms to increase pressure on windshield. If your dealer wont do this then you bought from the wrong dealer.

 

I didn't know this could be done. How do they tighten the blades up against the windshield? Do they tighten that spring that is in each wiper arm?? Its a little too late now, since I got the Bosch on there but did that get rid of the swearing and streaking for you once they tightened the springs???

 

I have to ask this too...what did they do? Replace the blades and just "tell you" they adjusted the pressure? I really don't know how they may have accomplished this so called "pressure adjustment."

Do the Latitudes come in 28"?? I didn't see them... I think their framed wipers come in 28" but their frameless I'm not so sure of...

The driver side is 28 inch, not 26! FYI, I think Rain-X at Walmart only goes up to 26inches. Autozone sells the 28 inches in the Rain-X though so you'll have to go to them to get the driver side blade but you'll be able to get the passenger side 17inch blade at WalMart!

 

So far, so good. the Trico's are almost as quiet as the Valeo's. The real test will be longevity.

 

That's exactly why I went to the internet to buy. It only took me 5-10 minutes with no gas, no out of stock and no lines. Its too bad that stores can't/don't stock a larger selection.

I hear you - the NeoForms are super-quiet and they wipe well. Mine are about 8-10 months old on a car with 60K on it (fairly worn, pitted windshield) and they just went through a Wisconsin Winter. I'll probably replace them this fall because I'm ****. I will be putting another treatment of Aquapel on so I'm sure performance will shoot right back up and make things perfect until fall.

On my brand new vehicles when the glass is new and slippery I can get 12-24 months (assuming I don't wreck the blades in the winter). After a couple years of severe tail-gating and wisconsin winters, my glass gets worn, pitted and rough. At that point I replace them every 6-12 months, usually in Spring and Fall. I may be a little **** though...?

 

I would have to agree with goodmike. If you clean your wipers every time you clean your car you should see an improvement. In addition to all the above mentioned suggestions I emptied my factory cleaner and added Rain X windshield cleaner with 2 in 1. I use this stuff on all my windows inside and out and it makes a difference. I dont use my Max in the rain since its a pleasure and not my daily driver but on my Honda I use rain x blades and windshield cleaner and have driven 61 miles in light rain with the wipers off. Yes I know not safe but when the water is sliding off the car better than than the wipers can clean it at 70mph.

PS clean your windshield with a clay bar or plenty of soap and water and elbow grease to clean it before you do any of the above mentioned.

 

I do what you guys do for the most part. Clean the wiper blades with hot/soapy water each time I get the car washed but for the windshield, I first apply rubbing alcohol to scrub the windshield clean and it leaves no streaks and then follow that with a Rain-X treatment afterward. Has worked really well thus far! I typically change blades once a year as well.

 

Agree and agree... I scrub my wiper blade edges and its amazing the grit that comes off. I use Aquapel rather than Rain-X, but I agree - glass treatment is a miracle worker. I don't really need my wipers when I'm traveling over 45mph...I still use them though for safety - - LOL. The Aquapel lasts 6 months per treatment, which is nice. The only problem I have still, and there's nothing I can do about it, is that I have over 50K on my vehicle and much of that was tailgating so my glass is worn and pitted...essentially its fine sand paper that eats the blades no matter what. The aquapel helps, but since year 2, I've replaced my wipers every spring and fall (yeah, I'm ****).

 

I wash my car every 1-2 weeks, depending on how dirty it is and I clean my wiper blades each time. You would not believe how much black grit comes off those blades, even after through the car wash on to the cloth, EVERY TIME I clean them.

 

50k?? I have 170k on my Hon. and I replace the windshield under insurance for pitting when required.

 

I'm not saying the windshield is shot, I'm saying that the performance and life of the wipers seem to drop substantially due to the glass getting older and older...and yes, 50k-ish. Of course, the Wisconsin winters also don't help the life of wipers either.

Replaced under insurance? You must have a very low deductable... With my $1000 deductable, I could buy probably 30 sets of wipers over a 15 year period and come out ahead of an insurance claim. Of course, I usually only keep my vehicles 8-12 years.

 

Had poor results with rainex in the past but after readng every one here gloating about it i deciced to give it a try again since it would be raining for the next few days.What a mistake.

I did not have any different results

First rain it was good second i got hazing and streaking 3rd day worse this is most dangeraoous at night with oncoming lights.

Streaking is getting worse as it rains.
Windsheild was clean and dry and applied as ber directions 2 timesd andf bufed off.

I can't help you with rainx removal. I can suggest Aquapel next time. You have to be a little **** applying it, but if you follow the directions to a "T", then you won't experience what you just experienced and the application will last 4-6 months. You'll never go back.

 

I've noticed this too with the set of Bosch Icons I put on the Max and Trico NeoForms I put on my TL. Both windows are hazing and smearing like crazy when the wipers run and at first it was the wipers I thought but since both are doing it I think its the Rain-X crap. I'm going to use hot soapy water and rubbing alcohol a couple of times to get the crap off the window!

From now on, all you need to clean the windsheild is hot soapy water or rubbing alcohol. Don't use anything that comes in a bottle that has chemicals in it! As long as you keep your windows clean and new blades every 6-12 months you shouldn't need Rain-X or any similar product!

 

I can only say that down here in FL with the every day rains, Rain-X is my favorite. I can't say that I've ever experienced the issues above but it will be a very sad day if I ever run out of Rain-X. I've tried the cleaning with alcohol, windex, even 3-M but nothing works as well as the Rain-X in increasing my safety and visibilty down here.

 

I think, because you have rain every day or every other day down there in good old Florida, your wipers get continual use and the rain-x I think is good for that. Up here in NJ, we can go for a week or two, sometimes longer in the summer without rain and I think this stuff is not great with only intermittent rain like we get here. Only thing I can think of. It can't be the wipers because they both are brand new, not even a month old yet!

 

Quite definitely, not the wipers. Both are good with the edge IMHO to the Icons. The only thing I can think of, and I did notice this on part of my passenger side windshield now that I think of it, is when I allowed the Rain-X to stay on too long before buffing and applying the second coat (what can I say, it was hot out!). This did cause the appearance of some rain drops "streaking" the windshield the following day.

 

I actually have glass insurance and its no deductible that I can see buried under all the other fees. Its actually come in handy twice. The funny thing about changing windshields for me is that they only last about 3-6 months then they crack again. It seems when I change it an alarm goes off and everyone gets their rock throwers out. Look into glass insurance. If you drive alot or on back roads it comes in handy.

 

I have never used rain x glass treatment. I use only the 2 in 1 glass cleaner windshield washer liquid to replace my blue oem one. I dont appy anything to the windshield.

Maybe I'll try aquapel.Should never have went back on what I already knew about rainx......BTW dont use the rain X washer fluid either it totally smears up your windiw its got some wax in it or something.

For cleaning of the rainX I have some glass polish I may try.

It was fun in the first rain though.I didnt have to turn on wipers at all.

Additional glass treatment info for others. I try to do my application right around now and right around fall. It works best when its warm - not cold and not hot. I also do it in the garage so the sun isn't beating down on it.

Most people always ask: "Whats the meaning of life??" My answer is Aquapel + NeoForm Beam Blades. This set-up seriously rocks...especially after a full weekend of rain this past weekend.

 

I've had great luck with Rain-X. I think the two most common mistakes people make when applying are getting it on too thick - and not buffing it all off.

It's work getting it all off. I usually buff the whole windshield 3 times. I've found that using old fleece sweats works pretty well.

 

I used Rain-X for a long time and thought I would try Aquapel. Went looking for it in all of my auto parts stores and could not find it anywhere.

 

I've never seen it in the store either... I got it online when I ordered my wipers.

 

If anyone sees any deals on Bosch Icons, please let me know. I have looked over the past week but nothing is really on sale. I would prefer a by one get one sale. Thanks

 

our wiper blades are 17" and 28" just in case it wasn't clear through all this mayhem. I made the mistake of buying Rain X wipers for like $24 each at autozone, the 2 ends of the 28" wiper don't even touch the freakin glass for like 3/4"! They Fail.

 

Correct - 28" & 17" for Gen 7, 2009+ Maximas (not older ones).

I've read about that problem with rain-x latitudes. Although they look and feel beefy, they are the stiffest frameless blade on the market which causes various problems. The most common is the center of the blade making bad contact because the arm can't put enough pressure on the blade. And then there's a lot of complaints about the mounting system not fitting right. And finally, what you mention - the ends losing contact. Got to go with the more flexible beam blades.

 

I know what you are talking about with the Rain-X. I had the same problem with the passenger side blade on my TL. But to be honest, I've heard other people claim this as well but had good luck with them because they are much thicker then the equivalent Icons, NeoForms, Valeo Flat Blade, etc and seem to hug the window harder and despite sections of it not touching the window while in the resting/off position, once they are turned on they touch the window because of their thickness and pressure again the glass! I still might try them eventually!

So far I have had the Bosch Icons on my Max and Trico NeoForms on my TL for about a month and a half now. Of the two of these, overall the NeoForms are a little bit better than the Icon's. My biggest gripe with the icons is this, despite me cleaning the blades themselves with hot/soapy water after each car wash, cleaning the front windshield with rubbing alcohol once a week and after each wash, they streak in certain places after only having them for a week. The Icon's are terrible with getting any kind of smudge or bug splatter off the windshield. I just don't think they apply enough pressure to the windshiled when in use because they don't get rid of any of that smuding/bug splatter off the winshield and just smear it across it instead, making it worse.

The Trico's are a little bit better than the Bosch so far but not by much. They don't streak as much, but over the last week or two I've noticed them beginning to streak, but not to the extent the Bosch are. The Trico's area little bit better then the Icon's with getting the bug splat/smudges off the windshield though and don't just smear it across the winshield like the Icon's do.

Overall, I'm pretty disappointed with each set. For how much each costs, to be having streaking at only 1.5 months old is just ridiculous. It would be a different thing if I didn't clean the blades/windshield regularly and left the car dirty all the time but I don't. I'm pretty **** about keeping everything clean so there is no reason for this. I stopped using the Rain-X on the windshield because it was that causing the smearing across the windshiled while the wipers were on. There isn't anything more I can do to keep this stuff clean. I'm not buying anymore chemicals or products for the winshiled over the internet and I think anything that has chemicals in it are going to leave a residue on the winshield.

I'm going to keep these on till the summer so I can get some of my monies worth out of them. I mean there is not much left to try but PIAA and Rain-X latitude. I'd be interested to try the Rain-X to see how they compare to the Trico's and Bosch because of how much thicker they are. They might be better at cleaning bug splatter/smudges off the windshiled and take longer to begin streaking!

Great review - keep us posted - thanks!! I've had my first set of Neoforms for a year now and I use Aquapel. The combo has been great. After last summer's bugs and last winter's ice, they're doing pretty good but I will replace them in Fall. I've never tried the Icons though. In the last wiper blade article in consumer reports in 2008, they basically said replace them after 6 months - any/all of them.
