Passenger Front Airbag

Please someone help me understand. When someone seats in the front passenger seat, is the light suppose to be on or off?

I called the dealer they said that when the light is on, that means the airbag is on. when the light is off that means the airbag is off. I'm confused because in most cars its if the light is on that means the airbag is off(deactivated). When the light is off that means the airbag is on (active).

Dealers, dealers, dealers. I haven't paid too close attention to this, but I DO know that the only light associated with the passenger airbag reads 'PSGR AIRBAG OFF'. When we turn the ignition to 'ON', I would expect this light to come on a few seconds so we could confirm the bulb is working. If we start the car, and a passenger (of any normal size) is sitting in the passenger seat, the light will go off.

I think when the light is on it means it's deactivated. Its weird cause I used to get this on my '07 when my girlfriend was sitting in the seat and she's over 100LBS. Now it's doing this on my '09 too. Nissan needs to watch out for this. Clearly this is a safety issue!

Light on means airbag off. The only time it should be on is when you have someone or something that weighs between 10 & 70 pounds (I think) in the seat.

1/2 correct. When the light is on it does mean the air bag is off. It could be lit up for one or two reasons. 1.) Your passenger may not be sitting on the seat correctly which makes it hard to sense the weight of the person so the light will go on or off depending, 2.) Your passenger is equal to or less than 115ibs if thats the case then the light will be on. Over 115 the light will be off. Its been proven cause my gf goes between 115-115.5 all the time and they light shuts on and turns on sometimes when we are driving, lol.

If no one is in the passenger seat then the light will be off.
