double din install in 09 maxi?

Anyone swap out or move the monochrome screen down to where the radio is and put a double DIN GPS in its place?

The double DIN metra dash kit that goes in place of the stock radio seems to look okay, but, to me, it might be a little low in the dash for optimal viewing. I have searched all over to find an audio mod, but no luck.

any ideas?

Double din

Hello Everyone...
I am new to this forum and new to Maximas. I just took delivery of my Brand new 2011 Super Black SV with rear wing on June 24 2011. I have already been bitten with the Mod bug. So here is what I have Planned for this weekend...Metra 95-7427B double din and I am getting the Pioneer AVIC-X930BT...I am going to do the install myself, does anyone have any advice for this diy project?

I didn't move the screen but I put the screen where the stock radio controls were and I have the HVAC controls remaining up top. Only thing now is that the small strip above the hvac controls is empty. The shop I usually visit told me it would be way too much of a headache to think about. I've seen the HVAC controls be replaced/moved and double-din installed in the new generation camaro but I know it cost big $$$.

Here is the space that is left blank after install. Still trying to come up with sick idea besides the decal I recently put up. I've seen a couple great ideas but not sure how they're going to come out. Ill keep you posted.

Well for starters, you can move the screen where the air conditioner display and the radio display is. Its actually two separate screens separated by the line in the middle. The OEM Display is actually about 2.5" deep and no space behind the screen. Easiest thing to do is just remove the factory radio. You can of course purchase a kit. I bought the kit then covered with vinyl to look close to factory. Im planning to place a 7" Android tablet where the Orange OEM screen is located. Moving my air conditioner display in the sunglass location. Since its an auto air I never really change settings, plus if I do its right on top. Hope this helps.

Dayummm the equalizer in the dash is freaking sick!! What kind of subs/amp you got back there?? Really like your set up

i have 2 12's and a 1k watt 2 channel amp ive been wanting to put on. There from my old Accord and i dont want the same trunk rattle. If i had a EQ it would make it that much better!

Do the Steering wheel controls work together with the bumps??

Blackmax- I actually got a normal dask kit but what I did was i hated the look when you have dash kit with the shinny black bottom piece so I was bored just fiberglassed and bondo them together like this. When smooth I just covered with Vinyl I had laying around.

The holes are for my K40 Radar Detector. So after they where actually filled if your wondering.

Toromax- Thanks. I got two Zapco Comp Amps for highs and adcom bass amp. For woofers I got my super loud clean woofers Hertz 12" Milles or now Im using a JL Audio 13w5 in factory enclosure for space since I got a baby due any second. JL woofer is like 5.5" Deep. Insane.
For the eq as you can see in the recent picture Its mostly flat not really used as an eq but a super clean way to send a High voltage signal to my amps. So I dont get noise.
I got the steering wheel controls from PAC. Had to program them but works awesome!
