Exclamation Spoiler Lifting!!!

Ok so a few months ago I noticed that the adhesive that they use to hold the spoiler down gave out and my spoiler started lifting at the corners. I took it to the dealership and they put some type of glue on it that looked horrible if you looks close and still didn't do the job it lifted a few days later again. Recently I had to have some body work done to the car after it got side swiped and I had it done at a Nissan body shop. They put new 3M along the entire side of the spoiler as well which is a lot more than what the factory does they only used 3M pads on certain spots. Long story short the spoiler is lifting again. Is anyone else having this problem?

Jeeze man, sounds like that spoiler of yours hates you. There is def a "super duty" tape out there, like a souped up 3M acrilic tape. I don't know it off hand tho.

That is ridiculous man. I have never heard of such an issue. Not to say it is entirely impossible but three different forms of bonding and still no resolution. There must be something wrong with the bonding process. Bad contact? Warped Spoiler?

You have a sport that comes standard with the spoiler, I really hope this not a problem that will plague anyone else

Simple solution, similar to what I will be doing with my brother on his 300C with a rear lip he put on, to make it look like an SRT8 remove it clean it and put it back,

I called my body shop and asked them b/c I couldn't remember for the life of me. It's called Fusor Clear Double-Sided tape. I don't know much about it, they just got it in to try on my spoilers (long story, I'll share it once everything with STILLEN is resolved). It looks like a completely different compound than the 3M stuff. Might want to try that out, the painter in the shop says its rediculously sticky.

You have to be careful that you get the correct tape, some of it is only for interior emblems, etc. Here is the HD stuff: http://www.repaintsupply.com/pd_171.cfm

Yep, that's the stuff I was talking about. I'm not positive what the exact part number the body shop got for me, but it is one of these. Good lookin' out.

Wow going to have to keep my eye out for that issue. I have a sports package also and sure don't want to deal with this issue. I was thinking the same thing though leaning more towards a warped issue if it keeps wanting to lift even with tape. Hope it works out for you and you get this resloved.

Well a friend of mine said that the spoiler looks like it dosn't go with the lights of the trunk or w.e. which is why it may be doing it but I just don't see what hes talking about. It looks like the spoiler lines up fine it just not staying down.

Ya I have the sport package and the spoiler is put on at the factory for that.

The body shop already took it off, cleaned it, retaped it, and put it back on and its doing it again.

Hello everyone.

I am having the OEM spoiler put on today at the dealership.

What is the factory recommended way of attaching these things?

Tape? Screws? Glue? (My dealership repairs are usually all-or-nothing so I expect ALL of these or NO attachment at all. )

Thanks. Appreciate it.

3 bolts to hold it down, I believe one smaller hole and grommet for wires, and foam sealing tape all along the edges to create a seal and keep the corners/edges stuck down. Unless, of course, you are Kam and your spoiler hates you - In that case, expect it to never stay completely attached.

Thanks guys. Now I can be sure its right.

I bought a new Dodge Omni once. (Shhhhhh. Now, now.)

After I signed off I noticed the roof looked a little off color. The dealer said "Thats normal for metallic paint". Only to discover the car carrier's top deck came down on the roof and the dealer bondo'd and repainted the roof and delivered it as such. Nice.

So since then I do a pre-delivery inspection while they are still interested in consummating the deal.

Oh I should relax a little.

I love working at every level with cars, from concept to building to demolition. I even love the smell of gear oil. One year I filled the wife's perfume little tester bottle with WD40 and she'd dab a little behind each ear. Mmmmm. Worked great until she put that smell and the garage's smell together.

Now she's getting a new Maxima.

I just hold my mechanic's standards to someone packing parachutes. You can't say to me "Just bring it back."

Hope Kam gets his thing to stay on.

I noticed last week that the corners on my spoiler are lifting up as well. Donr know if this is a job you can do yourself with that new tape or not. Anybody redo the tape themselves?
