stupid busted fog light glass

I guess one of the fog lights in my 09 Max got hit by a rock, and shattered the glass covering the fog light. I took it to the dealer, and they quoted me $250 to replace it! Is that because it's a sealed assembly, and since it's the first year of production, no one except Nissan is making replacement parts yet?

$250 for a piece of glass seems ridicuolous, so it must be an assembly.

Has anyone else broken one and had to get it replaced? Were you able to get it cheaper than $250?

Will missing glass fail you on a state inspection, or does the bulb itself just need to be working?

Thanks!

Thanks everyone - can you tell me how you got the part to show up on mynissanparts.com? I can't find the lights. I did find them on courtesy for $195. But $123 would be awesome!

I searched using the Nissan Parts catalog option that is on the top of the page. Pick the year and then model and it will take you to the page with the parts.

Hope that helps!

Mine too

The glass on my left fog light also cracked this last week. Haven't started working on it, but did not want to hear that you have to replace the whole assembly. Mine was hit by a rock as well. There's gotta be a way to replace the glass only. Will definitely look into the sites mentioned here for a replacement. Thanks

im pretty sure the only way to replace the glass is to replace the whole thing, im looking at oem altima fogs in my hand right now(from my previous car) and theres no way to just replace the glass

The only way to repair is to replace the entire assembly.

I'd look into some of the glass protectors that are out there. Might help protect the glass. Something similar to what a 3M clear bra is made out of. Nissan really dropped the ball when they switched from plastic to glass on the fog lights.

side mirrors

Can anyone tell me how hard it is to convert the side mirrors for a 2009 maxima to ones that have the LED lights/turn signal? Does the assembly come with the wiring?
