Yeah I got mine from the dealer.

I gotta leave all the junk on, Its a matter of pride for me......looks too naked without the badges. Have to admit though, the lines on that 7th gen body sure look smooth, and the de-badging helps with that look.....

Thanks, I agree it was pretty naked back there with no spoiler.

The only other thing I would have done is remove the license tag frame, spray paint it black (or color of your choice) so nothing can be read, and put it back on the car.

As for someone suggesting you blur you tag number, any time your car is not enclosed in a windowless garage, your tag is in full view to anyone who wants to see. I never post my Social Security Number or my VISA card number online (or anywhere else), but my Maxima license tag is WF70F5 (wildflower tag with a big blackeyed susan on it), and I would have no problem posting it on a billboard. I never bother bluring it, whether online or on the highway. It is what it is.

Light, Good idea blacking out the dealer letters. I am definitely going to put that on my list of things to do.

As for the license plate, I agree and see no harm in having it visible.

Painting Maxima Badge Black

What would be the best way to make the Maxima badge black? I have a Super Black 2010 SV and wanted to have it match the color of the car? Is there a 3rd party badge already that color or do you just paint it?
Thanks.

IMO straight black badges would not look so good. But, Black Chrome....WOW. If you could get that done, that would be very nice on a black car.

Arggg,

So being the eager beaver I am, I removed the "MAXIMA" badge last night. After heating up with a hairdryer and using dental floss to remove the letters, I was left with alot of the adhesive. Tried removing with GOO Gone and still no luck - panic time.

This is where I learned my lesson, don't do this job in the Canadian winter (too cold to remove adhesive) and in your dark garage (can't see if your hard rubbing is damaging the finish).

In a moment of despair, I turned to a flat head screw driver wrapped in a microfiber cloth. While this method eventually removed all of the glue, some nice scratches have now replaced where "MAXIMA" used to read.

I don't think the scratches are deep (will buy some Quixxx scratch remover today), but let this be a lesson learned!

Ya I was left with a ton of adhesive even after using two types of goo-gone, a few bug and tar removers, and good ole' isopropyl alcohol. I ended up having the body shop remove it when they put on my spoiler. Took them two seconds.

Thumbs up

I was left with some chunks of adhesive, but a little patience and fingernail work took care of everything. This was in the summertime, mind you.

Ya too cold to debadge in the winter. And yes the sooner you debadge the better. My wife just bought a 2010 Acura TL and I'm going to wait till the Summer to debadge. I pretty much debadge all my vehicles.

I used my fingernail and blue Windex. Worked very well for me. Using a screwdriver on your paint is bred from being impatient. A trait I am not immune from and do not seem to learn from its results. It worked out for me this time, but I'm sure I will do something soon that will cause the turrets to return.

big logos are there for 2 major reasons
1 manufacturer advertising
2 makes it easier for cops to ID your make & model

spray everything black so lidar doesn't get you

cheers

Ok im thinking of doing this since there is no SE on the other side. I once saw an infinity debadged but in the center of the rear bumper it had a new badge - S K Y L I N E. That would be cool.

Maybe I have no style, but I wouldn't want to remove the Maxima/Nissan stuff. What is the idea behind it?

Some people prefer a nice "clean" look on the back of the car, without all of the useless advertisements and logos.

I like the clean look and the idea of laymens not knowing what kind of car it is.

I am in the same boat!! I didn't use a screw driver but I used a piece of plastic and it cut the $hit out of my paint. When it warms up, my buddy will buff it out for me. He tried already with an orbital, but it didn't completely fill the cuts. Wet sand it is!

I'm with you. To me, taking off the emblems leaves an already big rear end looking even bigger.

I removed the MAXIMA as it looked like it was in left field. I kept the Nissan logo as I just like it there

(wow, I have old photos, need to get newer ones)

Yea, I feel your pain. However, to make you feel better I've noticed that scratches in this area don't show too much because it always seems to be in a shadow. Also, I was able to remove most of the scratches using a product called Quixx Scratch Remover (includes fine grit sand paper but I didn't use it).

That actually looks pretty good to me. I like the symmetry it brings to the back without looking too bare.

would de-badging a few months after you bought the car leave like a print of the "nissan" logo or the maxima badge on the paint?

the questions that need answering are:
1) Where about do you live?
2) How long the car sat on the lot before you bought it?
3) what color of car?
4) does the car sit in a garage or outside?

without these answers, a few months is no problem. Now if the car has been baking in the southern states and is a dark color, you may see a slight outline

I live in Fl and even at our temps I think you would have to have a poor paint for it to fade that quick. If it's a 2010 I don't think you would see any fading yet.

After reading these post I am wanting to take off the Nissan and replace it with a maserati, and take the IMA off of MAXIMA to see how I like it and remove MAX if I looks like poop.

Is there a chance you didn't get all of the adhesive off?

I see a blue G35 (1st gen) that says S K Y L I N E too around NoVA all the time, but with the INFINTI badge still on it.

I think the car looks off balanced with the Maxima on one side and nothing on the other... After seeing this thread, I'm going to have to debadge just "Maxima" this weekend!

Ok, two things,

1- I still haven't seen a good Badge-less front grill that I like

2- If you de-badge your car don't forget to get a BADGE-LESS plate frame!! duh...

ALRIIIGGGHHHTTT!!! I took off the "MAXIMA" badge on the most gorgeous Saturday New York has had in a long time!

Used fishing line to take the letters off and then the rubbed the residue away.
Used some bug and tar remover to get all the last traces off.
Then I clay barred the whole area and put some wax on it!

Smooth as glass and looks beautiful too! I took pictures I'll have to get them off my camera some time soon and post them. The car looks 1 million times better with that off.

I was thinking about taking the Nissan badge off as well but I think it looks to plain for my liking.
