Then I clay barred the whole area and put some wax on it!

Smooth as glass and looks beautiful too! I took pictures I'll have to get them off my camera some time soon and post them. The car looks 1 million times better with that off.

I was thinking about taking the Nissan badge off as well but I think it looks to plain for my liking.
I was thinking about that this weekend as well. To be different, I still just might.

I like the way it looks without it. The other benefit is it's easier to keep that area clean. I spend some time trying to clean in between the letters because the dirt gets trapped there easily.

How difficult will it be to re-attach the emblems? I'm leasing mine and I'm certain Nissan will expect the car to be returned with emblems in place.

Its just double sided 3M tape- prep the surface with alcohol, peel, and stick. You just gotta make sure they're straight. They are pretty inexpensive too i think.

De-badged mine last night. Went pretty smooth.

Heated each letter one at a time with the hairdryer. Peeled them off with dental floss (mint flavor) . This was almost a moot effort as most of the adhesive still remained on the car. Reheated the remaining adhesive and peeled it off with my finger nail. Used goo gone and a microfiber towel to get the remaining adhesive off. After this you still could faintly see the outline of the letters. Used a clay bar and it all disappeared. Put a little wax on the area and it's good as gold. Looks 10x better IMO.

use a heat gun

use a heat gun to heat up the adheasive to its melting point and it will peel right off. use solvent to remove whats left.

Debadge?

Gang - I photoshopped an image of my car to see whether debadging would be an improvement. The top picture is original, the middle has only the "MAXIMA" lettering removed, and the last also has the NISSAN badge removed.

I liked the middle option best and removed the MAXIMA letters last night. It went perfectly, using flossing to saw off the tape under each letter. The residual black tape came off without a trace by using rubbing alcohol. Applying a new coat of wax in that area made it impossible to tell anything used to be there.

I like the idea of also removing the NISSAN badge, but would prefer to replace it with some other decoration to maintain the "balanced" look and to help keep the type of car more of a mystery.

Mr "Tooruff" replaced his NISSAN badge with a BatMan insignia and another used a Transformers badge. I'd like to pick something different but the selections I've found so far are very limited. Anyone have a source with a larger selection? My hobby is Astronomy, so a plaque depicting Saturn, a comet, or a galaxy would be desirable.... hmmm, those happen to also be used as car names already, haven't they?

Have others picked different types of logos?

From your picture it looks like the cap can be removed. So is there a place to get replacement caps? If the cap can be removed then I could just change it out for one without the Nissan on it.

Update

After debading the "MAXIMA" logo, i decided to go ahead and debadge the "NISSAN" logo as well. I used a hair dryer to heat up the area, used dental floss to cut thru the adhesive, WD-40 and a microfiber towel to remove the left over adhesive, and some car wax to finish off the area. Im really happy with the results, and thanks everybody for all the helpful pointers.......Sorry for the poor quality pics, i took them at work.
