Hacking the HDD

Has anyone been brave enough to remove their hard drive and see whats on it? i.e. What operating system, what file system type?

I am wondering if there is an easy way to:

Upgrade the hard drive size
Copy mp3's directly to it
Remove album and track count limits
Make it do neat stuff

kLacK,

no, i haven't been brave enough to tear into it, but would be very curious to hear about anyone's experience that does. the part about the music box that turned me off is how much functionality they disabled for "safety" reasons when they car is moving (plenty of threads on this). so, as recommended by many folks here on the forums, i went and picked up a used iPod 30GB and am using it as my primary music repository in the car. for some reason they didn't disable any of this. i just wish the music box functionality was left along and they had put a bigger drive in there. also, like you said, being able to copy mp3's directly to it is almost a must....having to rip from CD's is so 1999 IMO most ppl have most of their music as mp3's anyway. oh well...still love the car even though i was on my soap box here a bit
