air filter?
air filter?
Its about time to change my air filter and was wondering what most of you were using? K&n, Stock, Green, etc.??? I havent even looked yet but im hoping its a simple process. The dealership wanted $40 to put a new one in.
Check to see if Amsoil carry a filter for the 7thgen. If they do, get it. I use Amsoil's air filter, cabin filter, synthetic oil and oil filter.
I do not like K&N because you have to oil it. Moreso, I don't feel comfortable having a filter that would last that long, though you wash and oil it. The oiling part, you need to know what you're doing or might oil too much and cause harm to your engine. Amsoil's air filter lasts for 100,000miles, which is close to 4 years for me. And at just about $35, I think I will change it within 2 years or maybe 1 year even, why not? If some of us do oil changes like 3 or more times a year at a cost of about $50 for synthetic, why not change air filter every year or atleast every other year? Even if it is K&N.
Well, read this to see if it will helps you make a well informed decision.

It really doesn't matter too much what you use as long as you keep up the maintenance (keep em clean or replaced!) Personally, I'm a fan of Purolators but have used many types down the years...just never been a fan of washing and oiling filters...even in lawn mowers!! I get about 10-12K miles depending on the season and find it much easier (and therefore more likely to get done) just to do the RR (remove and replace) method.
Go stock and then get the R2C CAI when it comes out.
