For me--it's a good solid car that I hope to get over 100K miles from. It looks nice, handles well & is sexy yet "strong" looking...
I'm also curious to know if the majority of the posters here are males? I am a female and am not sure if I can come across 1 female here. Ladies if you are present please let me know...

i went on the lot and originally look for the altimas, once I saw the new maxima on the lot I just wanted to test drive it, came back from the test drive and didn't even bother with the altima lol, but i definitely loved the way it looked as well, i was also interested in the g35 but A LOT of my friends have a G and the new Max just came out so got that instead, still happy with it.
Funny- I test drove a huge variety of cars- Acura TL-S, 2008 Chevy Corvette, 2008 Trailblazer SS, 2006 Pontiac GTO, and others I probably can't even remember, then I drove the Max. The thing that caught my eye was the look of the exterior and the feel of the interior. The other cars I drove were solid (the TL-S had a great interior) but the Maxima felt like the best bang for the buck of the bunch.
When I originally leased my 06, for one I've always loved the Maxima, but I was looking for the all around package, comfort and convenience as well as sporty and performance oriented, at a reasonable price, and the obvious being a reliable car that only needed general maintenance.
Of all the cars I test drove and the dealers I visited the Maxima and Nissan dealer was just the no brainer option.
If I did not lease the 06 I would have never gotten rid of it for the 09, the 09 is everything the 06 was and more, I just wish the sports package was more of a true sports package, eventually I would like to upgrade the suspension, car really needs thicker sway bars front and rear.

if you just look at the 09s and 10s they are simply gorgeous car. I believe the styling is much nicer than the es class lexus which is one of its rivals. On top of it all the car performs like a dream. Overall the perfect package
I loved the look of it. I had seen it online and thought, hmm that looks kinda nice. Then I saw one in person one night and after that Maxima was at the top of my list. A great set of features I wanted, heated seats, heated steering wheel, bluetooth, ipod control, backup camera, v6, panoramic roof and a pretty good price for the feature set sealed the deal. I love this car. I have never ever been a car person before. My poor sonata I owned before the max was usually the dirtiest, messiest car in the lot but I was outside in the 20 degree weather yesterday washing my maxima because the salt and dirt was driving me crazy
Hmmm a simple question but for me a rather complex answer.
After the rather sudden demise of my beloved 300m due to my ineptitude and negligence in performing routine maintenance, I began my search. My brother in-law swears by Maximas and has driven them for many years still singing their praise for robustness, handling, and longevity, but my only experience with Nissan was limited to a single Datsun 210 that, back in '81, I "inherited" as part of my bride's dowry. I had to admit I was suitably impressed with that little car, even taking it on the German Autobahn quite frequently, it never failed to impress. So I girded my loins and set to slay the new car beast. Thinking I would check out Nissan, but only as a matter of course.
I looked at the Lexus, Toyota, BMWs, Buick, Ford, Chey and their ilk and while "nice" cars, just didn't call out to me.
Then I saw and drove the 09 Maxima. Outside of my bride, I didn't believe in love at first sight, well to be honest, it wasn't love until I sat in the climate controlled driver's seat in the heat of the Floridian afternoon. Voila` no more sweaty back and a Pavlovian response to sign on the dotted line!
Of course the styling and other accoutrement such as the bluetooth, backup camera, ipod interface, heated steering wheel, rear shade, XM radio/traffic, multi-axis adjustable steering wheel, also came into play, but the troth of my brother in-law (and the lack of a timing belt so I couldn't postpone that bit of maintenance!) convinced me that this car was for me.
After 56,000 miles, I'm still a VERY big fan.

For me, style was the initial thing that caught my eye. Then, a test-drive got my blood pumping. Coming out of an '05 Acura RL equipped with every bell and whistle known to automotive mankind, I was impressed by how well the Maxima compared to my RL for $10,000 less. The decision was a no-brainer when I was able to take advantage of a great "end of the year" deal from the dealer, zero percent financing from Nissan, and the sales tax deduction for '09 from the IRS. My friends over at the RL Forum (www.acurazine.com) think I'm crazy, but my mind, my wallet, and my automotive sense think differently. A great purchase!
My previous car was a 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STi, prior to that I had a 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX. Somehow or another a gently used 2006 7 series caught my eye. It was priced at $38k with options like heated seats, air conditioned seats, sonar back-up system, tilt-down mirrors, rear sunshade, etc- it was an executive-level car. I fell in love with these amenities, yet the dealers played too many games the whole time I was looking at the 7. Also, the 7 had about 30k miles left in its BMW warranty and with their track record for electrical and other problems I didn't know if I could afford to own this car in the long run.
Then I saw a base model Maxima at Sam's Club, and my interest was piqued. I visited a dealer and drove a car with options similar to the 7 series I was courting. I found a car that had a similar feeling, and professional appearance that would make me feel better about buying it in the long run. It had a dual moonroof as well- how many cars have those?
I too had a long-standing appreciation for Maximas of the past. To me Maximas have always been the cars driven by those who were successful, yet modest- responsible but still true automotive enthusiasts. It did not require much of a leap for me to end up buying one of these cars.
Sometimes, I miss the STi's instant respect in certain crowds (teenagers always gave me thumbs up), or its perfomance, slicing through traffic- the Maxima is downright dead in comparison. However the level of refinement in this car is so impressive. Every drive in this car relaxes me. For now, I guess I'll save my "fun" for my two wheeled machines.

My wife and I came from and Acura also. We had an 08 TSX. Car had 50k miles on it already, we drive a lot. We wanted a larger car. My 1st choice, before we looked at the maxima was the 2010 TL. They look a lot better with a new grill installed, a must have. But by the time i got the nicer rims, and tech package we were looking at 38 to 40k for the TL. my next choice actually a tie was the G37 sedan. Fun car to drive styling was ok, but not too different from the TSX size and handling wise, lots more power though.
Then we drove the maxima! tons of room and i love looking over the hood and seeing the beefy fenders and looking in the mirrors and seeing the sides buldge out!!! the car is so much fun to drive. interior was nicer then our Acura, and lots more space too. car doesn't feel heavy at all. And the options that i wanted lined up perfect without costing me an arm and a leg. To top that off we get an A plan discount from nissan, family member works there. which equates to a 4.3 is % below invoice discount. making the car very affordable.
Car has everything we need / want!! and it looks great too

Well I wanted 370z, because I wanted my sports car. I have always liked the 350's and the I liked the new design of the 370. However, I have always wanted the Max, as I really did care for the last body styling. I have always like Honda's as well. So tough decision: Honda Coupe V-6, 370z Touring, or Max Loaded. The Honda lacked certain interior features that I would think a Fully-Loaded car is 2010 should have (Ipod connect and other items that were a turn off), the 370 was a def beast, however at 5'6" i felt like a giant in this car (I do travel and carry more then a lunch box), and finally the Max, speed, comfort, space and definite eye-catching class. Decision levied!
While driving my Datsun 200SX back in the 1970s, I always envied those folks who could afford the Datsun 810, which was a very nice sedan. By 1981, Datsun had changed the name of the 810 to 'Maxima', and the car had become even more stylish. Between 1983 and 1984, Datsun vehicles were rebadged as Nissans (after the name of the company that had been making the Datsuns all along).
By the time the restyled (generation 2) 1985 Maxima arrived, with FWD, transversely mounted engine, 'speaking voice' warning system, and (most importantly) a 3.0 engine, I was totally smitten, and bought TWO (one for my wife, one for my me). I drove my '85 for 206,000 Atlanta commuter miles, and have owned nothing but Maximas ever since. I have loved the styling, performance and reliability of every generation Maxima.
Back to Datsun for a moment. In a driveway about a hundred yards from my home, there sits a beautiful Datsun 2000 soft top roadster. I remember riding in a friend's datsun 2000 soft top roadster back in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Such memories . . .
hpnotiq - I feel the reason there are fewer females on the ORG than males has a lot to do with females looking at the Maximas as a 'finished product', which already has the style, performance and reliability they seek, while many males tend to look at the Maxima as just a starting point for an endless series of modifications. They come here to get info on which mods to try, how to install them, and compare the results.

Wow thanks for dropping knowledge, Light! You took it back....wayyyyyyyyyyy back I had no idea Datsun became Nissan! I wonder if the "little man" knew that.
I see that alot of the conversations here are about modifications and that's cool...I am enjoying reading about the MANY features the car has, viewing the gallery, & reading about modifications/upgrades/options.
While I have ordered a spoiler--I doubt I will do much more to the vehicle..possibly some tint to help with the Texas heat..lol
I like getting "schooled" on all of the options

And that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
I was a long time Honda guy but my last couple of Hondas weren't satisfying me anymore, so it was time to change companies. I am 38 and I wanted a car that had class, comfort, power and room. I looked at some used BMW 530 and 535 but the widely discussed BMW electrical issues scared me some. Among other cars, I got the list down to a new Toyota Avalon and a new Max. When I really compared them, the clear choice was the Max. now that I have the Max, I know I made the correct choice.
I've always liked Maxima's of most generations and when I was due, I picked up an 07. Yes, I liked it, but the steering was kinda like an M1 Abrams tank. The styling on it was pretty generic reminding me of an extended hatchback....
I happened to be at the dealership for the routine maintenance and chatting with the sales guy that I knew and he had said the new gen Maxima's had arrived merely a few days before and they had one on the lot prepped for customers already.
Had to go look and he talked me into a test drive..... OOPS.
I swear I can turn the 09 twice in the same turning radius that the 07. The fit and finish (IMO) was alot better than the 07 I had. The leather is most definitely softer as well.
Wife thought I was nuts for "swapping" but after driving it for a bit, she's a convert. She keeps trying to steal it.

I've told people that I have a Maxima and they don't really give no mind, but when the car rolls up or they see it, they always give me compliments. It's a great car, I still get excited when I drive it. I had just gotten my tail lights tinted (Pics Will Be Up Soon) and as I was on the freeway driving back home from the shop, a really nice 350Z pulls up next to me and gave me a thumbs up, I never thought I would get that. Seeing that I know Nissan is doing something right, if the Nissan sports car is giving a thumbs up to the sedan!
I learned how to drive with my pops '91 maxima. Looking back over the years i always wanted one but felt like i couldn't afford one til now because this model just wowed me so much when i test drove it. The timing was just right, 0% financing and the tax incentive, there was no hesitation that this would be the car for me!
My first Maxima was the 1997 SE. That was an absolutly amazing car. You actually still see many mint one's on the road. 2nd Maxima was the 2005 SE. Because the Maxima's were starting to look sooo much like the Altima I was thinking of changing to an Acura. But then od course I took my 05 to the dealership for repairs and a salesman sais I can get you in an 09 for the same price per month. @1st i was like 'Im all set". Then i saw the black on black SV Sport edition on the lot and said " can i drive that while i wait?
Ooooops!!! Never saw the driver seat of my 05 again!!!! The new Maxima is the best
4door performance car on the road and the new body style puts it way over the top.
Props to Nissan!!
09 SV Sport. Black on Black. Baseball stitch leather seats. XM Radio.

this is the exact color i got too!!! jsut love it. the styling is just amazing on this car. i really like it, i even think its more aggressive then the G37x more room, not quite as fast but but jsut as fun for what i will be using it for anyway. prolly like most of us too, daily driving, not going to the track, just love to feel really connected to the road and love a great driving experience!!!!
I bought this 2010 (my 2nd Maxima) because for me, it is the most car for the money. I looked at everything in my price range; Infinity, BMW, Mercedes, Acura, Lexus, Honda, and Toyota. All very nice cars, but none compare as the all around car - price, prestige, sporty, elegant, and a huge array of amenities. I'v not seen a nicer car on the road.
