Does anyone know of a source for the 7th Gen. Maxima?

wanted: illuminated kick plates

I want them too and cannot find any for 7th gen. Help people! I really think they should have been included in the premium package, like Infinit's upsclaed trims.

I was thinking the same thing the other day. They would be rather easy to splice into the floor lights on both sides.

Just keep in mind guys, the Maxima just went through a major overhaul and redesign in 2009, compared to the 6th generation Maxima and I think Nissan was more focused on performance, chassis, transmission, design, styling, mechanics and things of that nature then all of the luxury features and nice little accessories, such as illuminated kick plates. I think either in the mid life freshening of the 7th Gen or once the 8th Gen comes out, you see things like that appear for the Maxima, since by then they will have had the successful design and sales of the 7th Gen and can focus more on refinement changes and luxury feature additions!

Major overhaul? Were using the same chassis/platform as the Altima which was already in production, while I agree they made changes (and good ones) I don't subscribe to the idea that they did a "major overhaul" the interior and body work were changed nothing else. They eecked out 35 more HP by a compression bump, we didn't get the new HR series engine which for a "flagship" would've made more sense to me.

My work mates new Murano has illuminated kick plates, I think the Maxima is at least on par with the Murano.

Did you not listen to a word I said ? I said compared to the last Generation Maxima. This new Maxima had a completely new design and styling, both inside and outside. If you don't think they made a major overhaul on the 7th Gen Maxima compared to its last Gen then you definitely are in the minority with that opinion sir. Sales figures can tell that story quite nicely. Most people mistake the Maxima, and I've seen this first hand to a BMW, Infiniti, etc. I don't recall the 6th Generation getting mistaken for anything! The new Maxima's engine is just right for the tweaking they did. Why the hell would you want an even bigger more powerful engine with a FWD layout? That is jsut asking for trouble and the Maxima already gets slack as to why would you want that over a G37 for the same price, and if they put a bigger engine in, they'd definitely be into G37 performance territory. You can't have performance overlap like that. It would be crazy! Its fine the way it is!

If you want illuminated kick plates so bad, why don't you rip the ones out of your friend's Murano and put them in your Maxima? Both vehicles start with the letter M

Its a tit for tat thing with the Murano and Maxima. Does the Murano have a heated steering wheel? Does the Murano have heated and cooled front seat? Does the Murano have auto dimming side mirrors? Does the Murano have a power rear sunshade? Does the Murano have rear audio/climate controls? Does the Murano have rear bucket seats? I think you get my point and there are things, like illuminated kick plates, that the Murano has that the Maxima doesn't.

I don't see what is such the big thing about illuminated kick plates anyway. What is wrong with the nice silver metal ones that the Maxima comes with? They look pretty nice. Why do they have to be illuminated to be better. There are more things I'd like to see be put into the Maxima before that!

I did read your comments and I don't agree the 6th gen and 7th gen mechanically didn't change hardly at all, just the interior and body.

As for more power I didn't imply that, I think we should've got the VHR engine which doesn't mean it has to have more power. Even if we did get more power the way Nissan crippled the CVT to eliminate torque steer seems to work rather well.

While true, I hope you do realize that tit for tat thing I was talking about between the Maxima and Murano in regards to features! But no, I wasn't trying to imply their was a drastic change in performmance between the 6th and 7th Gen Maxima but you have to admit, the tweak 3.5L in the 7th Gen has improved performance over the 6th Gen!

Personally i would like some non badged kick plates....and a non badged steering wheel. That's the only thing besides floor mats that has any type of badging left on my car.

I hope you don't think I'm calling you a liar or anything. That's not it at all. I appreciate the info but as anything I read or hear I would just like to judge for myself how likely this is to really happen. Thats where your source comes into play. You had to hear it from somewhere. Did you read it on the web?(post a link) Did your dealer tell you. Did you hear it from a friend. Is it your gut feeling. Did you have a dream about it... Judging for myself how likely it is going solely off of someone who I don't know very much about and has only 5 posts to dates a little tuff.

I didn't realize so many people were fascinated with illuminated kick plates! I never gave them a second thought. I'd rather have a heated steering wheel, heated/cooled seats, power steering wheel, rearview camera, etc etc before illuminated kick plates but hey, that's just me!

I know that, I'm just saying, I'm thankful we have that stuff rather than illuminated kick plates! I mean for the price of the Maxima, they should come standard or at least as a option extra, but for me, I could care less about that one specific item. That is all I'm just saying. Be thankful the Premium package comes with all those luxury features that you usually had to pay over 50k to get in most luxury sedans! Talk about a bargain!

No I saw that also and said "hmm doesn't look right" and didn't place the order. Back to square one.

I think with all of the LEDS we have available that we might be able to do something with the existing kick plate and modify it. I bet it would be easy when I get my car back I plan to take the existing plate off and see what options we may have.

Thats a pretty interesting way of going about the illuminated kick plate thing! Definitely would be different!
