I have a pair of lights I bought on ebay. They are a direct bolt on fit, but I decided not to install them. They are brand new, I just opened the box. Bought for $80, but I will sell for $50+shipping if you are interested.

That is not a bad price. I bought from a reseller on eBay (Nissan parts) but each foglight side was a separate purchase from the same seller, but was about $20 less.

FYI: you also need to order a fog light steering column assembly from Nissan. The install of this piece will require pulling off the steering wheel air bag.

The question has nothing to do with HIDs

Nissan Maxima S fog light kit

Hello: Nissan recently relased a fog light kit for the 2010 Maxims S, but they do not say it can be used on a 2009. I spoke to the dealer and they said that is because not all 2009's are pre-wired for fogs from the factory. I checked my car and it is pre-wired, so I am ready to order the kit and do the install. But, since the entire steering wheel stalk switch assembly is replaced as part of the kit, do I have to be concerned about a mismatch in the wiring harness. What's everyone's opinon? Has anyone installed this kit on a pre-wired 2009?
Thanks, Artie

save yourself some cash and buy the fog light hardware from the eBay seller listed upthread. The stalk assembly can be ordered from Nissan and I had Nissan install the stalk assembly as you have to take apart the whole steering wheel to get to it (including airbags). For me, airbag work means dealership can do it. I believe I paid ~$60 for the stalk and $120 for Nissan to install it

To install the fog light hardware is pretty easy.

I would go OEM but they are expensive. You can go ebay and I have the H11 plugs you can cut to solder or crimp to the aftermarket lights allowing you to keep your factory's factory. You can also do the stalk install yourself. It is hard to believe the airbags have to come out. I added fog light to my Jeep and the two steering covers needed to be removed and then two screws for the stalk. If the airbags have to come out it would be poor design and the airbags are part of the steering wheel and not the steering column so I doubt it. Let me know.

It may be hard to believe, but you'll soon find out for yourself. I hacked up the steering column cover pretty hard before I gave up after I looked up how to disassemble it correctly. If you can do it without messing with the airbags, please do post the "how to".

It's actually cheaper ordering the fogs through courtesyparts.com since the kit comes with the combo switch. And you don't have to take the steering wheel off (at least according to the directions supplied with the kit---http://www.courtesyparts.com/images/instruct/999F1-A3501.pdf).

After viewing the installation pdf it has been confirmed the steering wheel is not required to be removed or touch other than to turn the wheel. If you read the required tools list you will see that a tork or security bit is not required. It would make no sense to have to move a expensive item just to replace a stalk. I have enough common sense to get this done and also all the tools and then some not to mention mechanical skills. Nothing that is sold over the counter as such fog lights will never require steering wheel removal unless thats where your mounting them. I will agree with you that the dealer may be your best bet if you are in a hurry but for 2 hours labor they better install everything.

Auto and Non-Auto

DUmb question but I'm looking into a fog light kit see a kick *** one on ebay but I'm afraid to buy it. CourtesyParts has the kit but for some reason specify that its for Maximas with "Auto" Headlights and one without.....Whats the difference?

If the combination switch on the column has the "auto" setting (headlights turn on by themselves at dusk) then you need the auto ones. But the "S" model does not have have the fog light turn on switch.

In order to add fogs to look factory on the "S" model you need to install the combination switch onto the steering column with the fogs turn on. I think I got mine on courtesyparts, came with the fogs, housings and column switch.

You can go the ebay route and get the cheaper fogs (most on ebay have plastic lenses instead of glass) that come with wiring that you would need to install yourself. Most of the S models come factory wired, they are coiled up on each side.

Is this still the best kit for fog lights? I have seen some of your cars with a horizontal light instead of the classical round look and I think it looks good too....any leads to those kits?

is my 2014 maxima prewired for fogs?

I'm trying to figure out if I am pre wired for fog lights, but I do not believe I am. I have searched the engine compartment high and low. If not, how do I go about wiring and hidfog light kit?

I also don't have the switch on the stalk, so I bought OEM housings and an HID kit, but have no idea where or how to wire the power supply

My question then would be, where do I find the wiring? The hid kit I got has a plug, but I don't see the plug from a fog light power supply. Thanks for your help!

I was thinking about replacing the bulb in my factory fog lights. I noticed my headlights are white in color whereas my fogs are more yellow. What would be a good buld to to install. I don't want it to be blinding, but a little brighter and whiter. How difficult is it to replace the bulb?
