Steering Wheel Rubs?

Ok, I didn't post this last summer because I thought it was just a fluke. Now, I know it is not. When it is HOT outside, my the base of my steering wheel makes a rubbing sound. I have 2 co-workers and theirs do the same thing.

However, I don't know what is rubbing and have not taken it to the dealership yet. I am "assuming that one of the MANY owners on this forum has to have dealt with this.

Any easy fix?

Maybe I'm not understanding what your meaning but I have no idea what rubbing sound you are refering to.

Where the base of the steering wheel casing meets the steering column casing. As I turn the steering wheel when the car is hot inside, they rub.

Ok. I get what you mean. Like the plastic warps in hotter climate making the wheel rub? I have not experienced that and it gets HOT in the car now that is summer time

I haven't heard this noise. But my wife and I alternate driving our Maxima, and when we hit the button to reposition mirrors, seat, steering wheel, etc when changing drivers, or as the wheel is tilting up or down as part of the entry/exit adjustment, as the steering wheel tilts up or down, it squeaks a little. This seem to only happen during warm weather.

Auto Entry/Exit squeaks for me during hot days, and has that sticky pasty noise when the car is cold in the winter. Just must be the grease on the gears and tracks in there.

Don't know if you got this fixed or not but I experienced this as well. I just took my car in today and they said the Spiral Cable failed and they are ordering me a new Spiral Cable which is covered by the warranty. Hope this helps.
