Any help would be appriciated on where to go that takes state farm in queens area...

That sucks. Definitely feel for you but thank God it's not body damage. I don't think any of the windshield services stock OEM glass. It would be just too expensive.

Thanks for the link!, My insurance (statefarm) is covering the claim. I have a mobile service coming tomorro, spoke to the guy and he said he does some of nissan dealers windsheilds. He says they only have one glass for it. I have my fingers crossed, but if something doesnt look right when they come i will just tell them hold off and go maybe to safelite. I have the cortex glass on there now, doesnt say anything nissan on the windsheild. Tomorro i will update.

If you toss a sheet of white paper on top of the front left corner of the dash, the writing on the windshield becomes easier to read. It actually says 'CARLEX', not 'cortex. Carlex IS Nissan's OEM glass.

I would not be too concerned with whether OEM glass is used to replace your windshield. This Carlex OEM windshield on the 7th gen has broken or cracked for many posters here; several times for some.

Thank you!! You put my mind at ease! I just hate to get a aftermarket windsheild put on after just buying a car less then a week! I honestly see no chip, crack or hint of something hitting it at all and suspect this is a faulty windsheild. Regardless of the facts they are coming tomorro to my home and putting one in covered by state farm. You said the same thing as my wife, ... Maybe i should replace it with whatever they use and not get another oem. It doesnt matter at this point, as long as they do it right and i can see through it. Besides , its warrenty is through state farm too being they are recommended and all is covered. I dont want to deal with waiting 7-10 days till i get a check from them bidding with a dealer that doesnt accept state farm for it. Forget the headach even reporting this to nissan under warrenty claims. After tomorro i will feel better.

Also there was no chip, crack rock blot or anything at all looks like it hit it. I am still baffled and cant understand if the heat or faulty window was the cause... I cannot blame the storm on this after looking close!

Here are the pics of the windsheild that what broken from a unknown fault. I cant see and nic's of anything that could have caused this besides heat over 100 degrees or wind pushing against it.

keon - From your photos, I see no little tell-tale impact star. With no impact star, you probably could have gotten this windshield replaced free as defective under warranty by Nissan.

What may have happened is that your car sat out in the sun, got very hot inside, causing the glass to be very hot, then a sudden deluge of cold raind hitting the outside layer of glass (there are two layers of glass in modern windshields) caused the outside layer to contract and crack.

But who knows? All I know is that a lot of 7th gen windshields have cracked, mine included. Mine cracked like a rifle shot on top of Humpback Mountain on the Blue Ridge Parkway. There was nothing around us but trees (no other traffic), and my wife and I both thought we had been shot from ambush. I immediately floored it to warp speed and my wife dialed 911. But there was no cell service way up in those boondocks, and then we saw the crack gradually climbing up the windshield.

Yes , this is the way it seems. Tomorro they are coming to replace it, I think what you said was right about the sun being very hot and rain cool, this makes the most sense. If i go to nissan this could take a while so i just am gonna get it done through the insurance, i need my car for work. its the top layer of the window as well and didnt go all through. Good stuff on your reply!!!

keon - Glad I could help. Be aware the windshield on the 7th gen Maxima is not held in place by molding surrounding the glass, but by a goo used to seal the new glass in place. That goo has a very bad odor, so you will have to air the car out for awhile. Also be aware they will recommend you not drive the car for a few hours after the new windshield has been installed so that the goo can cure.

There was something on nissanhelp.com about there being an issue with the windshields and cracking. I thing there was a tech bulletin about this.
But if insurance covers it then just go ahead and fix it.

Thanks again!, I just had the guys come out here and put the new window in. They did a fantastic job and looks like nothing ever happend! http://www.mrglassny.com/. They had put the Carlex glass, i checked and its exactly the same as the one that was cracked! To my suprise! I am more then happy on how well they installed it with not making a mess and the smell is not very present as well. I reccommend them as ive had glass work done before with a mess. 40min tops it took, then the 3 who installed went over all of it and cleaned and brushed any dirt/glass away. A++++ no charge through state farm and im back on the road in a few hours or maybe i will wait a day to let set in better. Thanks for all your help and here is some pics~

Very nice! I'm glad all went well. I was very pleased with the way mine was replaced also. After a week or two, you may want to either take it through the car wash or douse it good with a hose, then check all around the edge of the windshild inside the car just to make sure there is no leak anywhere.

You evidently live in a state where the deductible part of the insurance does not have to be payed in the case of windshield breakage. I think Florida may also be such a state. Georgia is not, so I had to pay my $300 deductible toward my $555 windshield replacement. But State Farm was very helpful.

Less than six months later, State Farm paid $18,500 to have our hail-damaged roof replaced. We threw in several more thousand and switched to the top grade of architectural shingles. We love our new roof.

I have been with State Farm since 1958, and must say they have treated me very well for 52 years. My wife and I stop by their office every few months to ask questions or pay our premium or just chat. Local agents do have some latitude with claims processing, so we want to be their 'friends.'

In addition to vehicle policies, homeowner policy, etc we have a multi-million dollar umbrella policy with State Farm, and it costs us only around $200 per year. I would urge anyone with a large property, especially if animals are involved, to consider an umbrella policy. This umbrella policy also takes over in accidents if you are liable for more than the cap on your car insurance policy. The way juries and lawyers work these days, nobody is safe.

I got a replacement glass through Statefarm from Infiniti for my G35 but that the policy might be different state to state.

Very nice, how long does it take the glue to set, I always get a kick out of the fact that the passenger airbag could shoot the windshield out of the car

My installer suggested two or three hours.

If I was going to be driving the car in a twisting-type situation (such as leaving or entering a curbed driveway at an angle), I would probably try to wait four or more hours. But If I was going the be traveling on strictly level surfaces, I would not be afraid to ues the car after 90 minutes or so.
