Does anyone else think the A/C has serious limitations?

This is what I am talking about...
Why won't it turn on by pressing the A/C button, or repressing the off button again.......Why only the turn dial?
also I can't seem to get the recirculation button to work when the A/C is not on. scenero being I don't want the A/C on, but I want to recirculate the air in the cabin.....This seems to be a nogo.
Anyone else expierience this????

As far as the recirculation goes, well, that is the way they designed it. If the AC isn't on, no recirculation. As far as the On/Off feature. Not sure what you mean here. If you turned it "off" by pressing the "off" button, are you saying you think it should turn on by pressing the AC button? I will have to try that one. As you observed, turning the temp dial does turn it back on but on my 09, pressing the button "again" will turn it back on (without turning the dial.)

One problem with a no AC recirculation mode is condensation built up. You can quickly build up enough humid air in a car to fog up the windows. The AC removes the humidity. It might be a safety thing so you don't fog the windows, crash (and then sue Nissan).

Not sure what you mean? I turn mine on and off with the A/C button every day. Maybe your panel has a problem...

I know what he's saying. (I think)

If you turn off ALL the air handling systems by the ****, you cannot turn it on just by pressing the button. I suspect this is a switch limitation.

If the air handling system is on, you can stop and start the A/C compressor by using the button.

As far as I know. Climate Control turns off with the middle OFF/Fan speed button by pressing it in, turns on with the left Auto/temp control button by pressing it in or by turning the middle fan speed dial. I never tried the A\C button to turn on the climate control per say but I will try. I will also try the recirculation with A/C off but climate control on.

I think there might be some confusion between A/C and climate control. A/C is the button that turns on the compressor and climate control is whenever the fan is on regardless of a/c being on or not. At least that's my understanding.

Also, I don't know if this is different between the Navigation and non-Navi models. MY notes above are based on having Navi.

Not to stray too far OT, but as we're on the subject of the A/C---does anyone else's A/C blow hot air when set to 62 degrees? I find it really annoying that if I want cold air, I can only choose between 60-61 degrees. As soon as it's turned up to 62 degrees, the air starts to blow very warm---so there's no in between where I can get cool air.

thats odd. i keep mine at 79. so at night it blows cool and on a hot day it blows warm.

Nope, I don't have that problem. Good control of temperature throughout the range of the controls. I am assuming that it is above 62 degrees in the cabin, if it is cooler than that it will blow hot air to bring it to the set temperature.

Not quite sure what you mean and which AC system do you have as there is 2 versions. I have to dual with 3 *****. The middle **** turns the AC/Fan off. The left and right ***** turn the AC on either by turning it or pushing it for auto.

As far as recirculation - when the AC is switched off, fresh air goes on by default. However, the recirculate/closed vent can be switched on by pressing the button. Unthinkable that you can't prevent outside air from coming in to prevent the foul smell coming in!

Hot air? Do you have the AC off? I'd get that checked otherwise.

with all things off the a/c button is closest to the driver and by pressing it I think the a/c should come on.... also I like to recirc the air in my car sometimes w/ out having to have to a/c on to do it.... I live in Fl. and the air outside is sometimes hotter than the air in my car (it lives in the garage) so the recirc would keep me from pulling in the hotter air from outside....Why would they even put that restriction on a system in the first place.......

Funny thing, in my car, the "button" nearest to me is that controls the AC is the temp control/auto temp. Gotta reach further for AC button. Living in FL without the AC running? I think that happened once last year for a few hours

Does the compressor run if you have the AC turned on but it isn't needed? For example, in the winter when it's 30 degrees outside and you have the climate control set to 70 and the AC is on, does the compressor still run? Sometimes I forget to shut off the AC when I don't need it.

The compressor cuts itself on and off as needed. It will be on part of the time even when the temp may be below that which we have requested, as part of 'air conditioning' is to remove moisture from the air. In cold weather, removing moisture from the air inside the car prevents fogging inside the windows.

The philosophy of running the AC has changed considerably over the years. Back in the 1960s, most folks avoided running the AC unless necessary, as it measurably reduced the MPG and compressors tended to wear out with extensive use. These days, the AC system is designed with the thought that it will be on all the time during the warm part of the year, and on a lot (for defogging, etc) during the cold part of the year. Today's AC systems have only a minimal effect on MPG.

I have the exact same issue, on 62 degrees or higher the fan kicks on high and blows hot air non stop. 61 degrees blows cold air. I assumed I caused the problem when I pulled my navi out to modify for dvd in motion, which I did 2 days after I bought the car. I decided today to "undo" my "DVD in motion" mod so I could take it back to the dealer and when I finished up the air (and heat) starting working properly! Unfortunately, I did not re-connect the cut VSS wire well and ended up with no GPS tracking. So I took it back apart, corrected the VSS connection and now the AC is not working again!!! Can't figure out what the heck I did. Also, my display now turns all green when trying to play a dvd with parking break on. And last but not least my touch screen doesn't seem to be responding, although I never use the touch screen so again I'm not sure if it's all related.

the cooling and heating system does definitely feel like a system u would expect from gm or chrysler. U can hear the mechanical noises when it's opening vents and all kinds of stuff.

unlike toyota, it doesn't feel very quality like.

but the sexiness and ***** make up for it.
