is there a way to deactivate
yep, only windows with switches with an auto-down feature will roll down from the remote command.
I remember seeing a section in the FSM where the dealer could change all sorts of variables with their computer system when interfaced with the cars computer. I'm pretty sure that "auto roll down" feature was amongst the variables that could be changed.
I'd be interested in knowing this too. My biggest fear is having the windows go down and have it rain. I find myself activating the alarm all the time accidentally with the fob in my pocket.

Get one of those silicone covers. It should resolve the issue. Otherwise I would buy looser pants because I can't see how the button can stay pressed long enough to lower the windows in a pocket. I don't think there is a way for us remove the programming, not sure if a dealer will do it (or even know how).

While there have been many complaints about accidentally activating buttons on the keyfob, there have been a few people with the problem of the windows actually going down by themselves without any input from the keyfob.
I had the problem and the dealer turned that feature off. It happened to me 4 or 5 times over the course of a few days, and since I live in the city and the dealer couldn't find anything else wrong, I thought the safest thing to do was to just turn it off.

You can also open the windows by use of the key in the door lock. If anyone had the time to read the hundreds of pages in the manuals that come with the car, he would find an incredible number of details and functions most Maxima drivers will never know they had.
I believe I've seen the optional settings in the FSM's for the CONSULT III system to turn nearly anything off that the operator wanted.
I bet you could ask the dealer to do it using their CONSULT III diag system.

I just looked again, however, and did not find a way to disable the "all windows down feature".
Taking the fob out of your pocket when you need to have it with you or leaving the keys in the cupholder aren't solutions to the problem of having other stuff in your pockets activate the fob buttons. Sometimes, just bending over to tie your shoes is all it takes. A fob cover is at best a band-aid - one that adds bulk and likely to become just one more PITA thing to have to deal with.
The reason for having pockets in the first place is to have a CONVENIENT place to carry the small things that you are likely to need on a frequent basis (phone, wallet, loose change, other keys, perhaps a small pocket knife). There is no excuse for key and fob designers not designing their products with the understanding that many people will carry more than just that designer's key and/or fob in their pocket. This should be at the very top of their list of priorities.

Hard shell?
Maybe it is time someone designs a thin hardshell case for the fob.. I have the soft case on mine and it does cut down on the inadvertent issues but not 100% One cannot single out Nissan though. I had the same issue with the fob for my Passat.. Of course there are now options for that fob since it IS the key (not a keyless start)
