Armor All on "soft touch" dash (interior)?
Just curious to see how many people are using armor all on their dash. I "was" a big fan of armor all until I bought my '09 Challenger (which has the soft touch dash like our Maximas) and the actual owner's manual stated " do not use harsh cleaners or Armor All on the dash."
It was explained to me that it is bad for your interior because it contains silicone, which will cause your dash to dry out and crack over time.
So if you don't use Armor All, what product do you use? Personally, I like Meguiar's ultimate interior cleaner. Cheers!

Armor-all
I've used armor-all ever since it was first offered on every car I've owned and have not had a single problem except for those few that had an untextured dash surface.
Those smooth dashboards became very reflective on sunny days after getting an armor-all shine. The Maxima dash has a nice texture which does not have a reflectivity problem.
Armor-all adds a deeper shade to whatever color it is applied to and seems to repel dirt and stains. I wouldn't be surprised if it also PREVENTS dashboard cracks since I have never seen a crack after applying armor-all.
Here's a list of my cars that benefited from armor-all...

armor all is bad for interior parts. ill use silicone based products on tires. but the last times ive done interior, ive used interior specific products from a detail shop. i got it from a friend who worked at a detail shop at a dealership. i have yet to reup, but i also havent used it all. i need to find that guy before i run out again

You're right - I do sound like a commercial - but only because I REALLY like what Armor-all does.
If you apply to all the plastic surfaces of your car when it's new it will stay new looking indefinitely. The inside door panels are a good example: once treated they resist scuffing and are much easier to wipe clean with a damp cloth when they get dirty.
A number of guys on this forum have also used it under the hood like this...

I've always had bad luck with the greasy formula of Armor All actually attracting dirt instead of repelling it.
I also don't particularly like the high-gloss shine it gives interior parts. I much prefer just a simple, clean look. Like OP, I'm very happy with Meguiar's Interior Detailer.
I kind of agree with Phatboislim, though. Something considered a "universal" detailer doesn't seem that great for interior use...just IMO.

I don't use anything. I don't like all that shiny, greasy stuff. For me, it attracts dirt and if you touch it then your hands are all greasy. I prefer the factory look. I don't use it on the engine either, only on the tires.
My last car, 08 Altima, I never put anything on the dash or interior. Had it for 2 1/2 years. I sold the car, then the lady needed me to sign something with the title a few weeks later. Asked her how the car was doin, looked inside and sure enough...dash was loaded with shiny, greasy stuff. Oh well, I got my Maxima, ha!

For a protectant I use 303 Aerospace, SPF 40, last forever, great in the engine compartment.

I Agree, That's why I stay away from Armor All, I Know Windex is used for windows and such, But I also finds it works well for the dash also, since it dose not give off the shine ect. And have been doing it for years. IMO

I use armor all wipes on the black (soft touch) parts of the dash and interior. At first I just used a soapy rag to clean it but found after a few months that it really began to look faded and dull no matter how much I cleaned it. Also, it started faded with the summer sunshine.
I started putting armor all on it and have done so since. It gives it a great clean shine and acts like sunscreen for it during the summer time. Typically I only have to put it on once a season. What you can do is, if you don't want that glossy look, just put it on, let it sit for a while, and then wipe it off again with a wet rag.
