DVD in Motion - How about this?
DVD in Motion - How about this?
Everyone in that thread is talking about KP this and that, cutting here, disconnecting this. I've been thinking, cuz in VW you were basically able to program anything through VAG. I have Modis and Launch at work, I went through them couldn't find anything. Is there any way you can go in and screw with the programming of the Nav and just deactivate the block that doesn't let you watch DVD in motion?
I work with many Japanese, and they tend to be very cautious when it comes to safety and legal issues.
IMO, Nissan sees the nav lockout in terms of both a safety and a potential legal issue. I kind of doubt the engineering team would make it that simple. And if they did, it wouldn't be documented in the service manuals for anyone to go do.
Hence, the 3rd-party work-arounds.
Interesting, though, that there is a series of products under the Lockpick brand. They work for GM, Toyota, Ford, and Mercedes. For GM at least, they seem to integrate very seamlessly into supported vehicles. Would be nice if their was an option for Nissan.

Aftermarket headunits with DVD play back have a ground wire (if installed) to the E-brake limit switch. Typically the limit switch that controls the E-brake will send a ground signal to the head unit to activate video play back. This may or may not be the case for this headunit, so if anyone gets their hands on a wiring diagram let me know. Id be more than happy to do a "how to"... with disclaimer of course

Thinking I could be of some help, I decided to scour over some wiring diagrams and try to find a solution. Well I guess the joke's on me because Nissan obviously have decided that it's best to withhold any logical documentation of the electrical systems of newer models in their manuals.
So now instead of looking at a single page showing connectors/codes, wire colors AND routing of all the wires in a system circuit, you need to look at a basic diagram, then match up the connector code and pin location with a table on a different page, just to figure out a single wire color and its destination. Jesus, what happened to Nissan?
Good luck you guys, you just need to simulate whatever signal unlocks DVD playback, forget about software hacks.
