Lock Chirp Buzzer.
Lock Chirp Buzzer.
Does anyone know how to make chirp sound work when you use the thumb button locks on the door? My 2008 Altima works exactly as described here. I am thinking maybe the 2011 Max no longer makes a sound when you use the door lock pad on the car? They call it a Buzzer, but its more like a chirp to me. Its not the horn.
Locking doors
1. Move the shift selector to the “P” position.
Place the ignition switch in the LOCK posi-
tion. Make sure the Intelligent Key is not left
in the vehicle.
2. Close all doors.
3. Push any door handle request switch 1
while carrying the Intelligent Key with you.
4. All doors and the trunk will lock.
5. The hazard warning lights flash twice and
the outside buzzer sounds twice.

How about the exact location of this buzzer? Maybe we can use it for other things like lock/unolock confirmations with aftermarket alarms and such instead of those annoying standard alarm sirens that no one even pays attention to anymore.
Ok I found the problem. I also had another issue that may help some people. The Climate Control system was always off when I started the car, and set to 75 degrees, rather than being the way I last used it. When I took delivery of the car I found a tag under the seat labeled "IMPORTANT!". It seems this tag must have fell off the mirror.
It turns our that 2011 Maxima's made after December of 2010 have been equipped with an Extended Storage Switch. This switch can be found in the interior fuse panel. Switch is "out" and a number of vehicle functions are disabled, or have limited operation. Notably, the Intelligent Key Buzzer, the Auto AC Unit, and some mirror functionality.
Push the switch "in" and it engages a fuse which restores full functionality. Pull it back out for Inventory Condition extended storage mode.
Hopefully this helps out a few people.

Thanks for this VERY interesting info. I feel the dealer sort of 'owes you one' on this.
TSB NTB10-124b .. EXTENDED STORAGE SWITCH AND BCM TRANSIT MODE
All about the switch. It has a table that shows what functions are disabled or limited and on which vehicles.
Whats funny is on the cars it also disables the Consult DDL.

Where is the fuse panel?

I would love to have the beep beep from the key fob as opposed to having to touch the button on the door handle. The horn sound from the key fob is just annoying, especially when I am coning home late at night from work.
I totally agree with Schneid. What happens in "silent mode"? Does it not do anything when you lock at all? Or does it do a chirp instead of a horn honk when you lock from the fob?
