Lock Chirp Buzzer.

Does anyone know how to make chirp sound work when you use the thumb button locks on the door? My 2008 Altima works exactly as described here. I am thinking maybe the 2011 Max no longer makes a sound when you use the door lock pad on the car? They call it a Buzzer, but its more like a chirp to me. Its not the horn.

Locking doors
1. Move the shift selector to the “P” position.
Place the ignition switch in the LOCK posi-
tion. Make sure the Intelligent Key is not left
in the vehicle.
2. Close all doors.
3. Push any door handle request switch 1
while carrying the Intelligent Key with you.
4. All doors and the trunk will lock.
5. The hazard warning lights flash twice and
the outside buzzer sounds twice.

I don't think I get a buzz or a sound when I lock using the buttons on the door handles. Never knew there was any sound except the horn with the remote locking.

Mine sometimes creates an alarm of chirps (Maybe 10 chirps). Anyone have the same issue?

I think that means you left the keys in the center console, or the lights are on...

I disabled the honk. Annoying to me. Especially walking in the house late at night.

Yea the beeps are perfect. Just loud enough to know all the doors locked. I am starting to think they removed it for 2011?? Anyone with a 2011 have the buzzer chirps?

How about the exact location of this buzzer? Maybe we can use it for other things like lock/unolock confirmations with aftermarket alarms and such instead of those annoying standard alarm sirens that no one even pays attention to anymore.

Exclamation SOLVED -- Sticky??

Ok I found the problem. I also had another issue that may help some people. The Climate Control system was always off when I started the car, and set to 75 degrees, rather than being the way I last used it. When I took delivery of the car I found a tag under the seat labeled "IMPORTANT!". It seems this tag must have fell off the mirror.
It turns our that 2011 Maxima's made after December of 2010 have been equipped with an Extended Storage Switch. This switch can be found in the interior fuse panel. Switch is "out" and a number of vehicle functions are disabled, or have limited operation. Notably, the Intelligent Key Buzzer, the Auto AC Unit, and some mirror functionality.
Push the switch "in" and it engages a fuse which restores full functionality. Pull it back out for Inventory Condition extended storage mode.
Hopefully this helps out a few people.
Steve

I have been driving sixty-four years (and learning to drive for a few years before that), and I don't remember ever encountering anything quite like this. I feel Nissan should either have the switch in the 'operational' mode as the car leaves the factory, or have dealers acutely aware that this switch MUST be engaged if the car is to be test-driven or sold. There is no excuse for the extended storage switch to be set unless the car is to be moved into extended storage.

Thanks for this VERY interesting info. I feel the dealer sort of 'owes you one' on this.

Just curious. I only have a 2009, but wondering if it affects things like radio and seat presets as well?

TSB NTB10-124b .. EXTENDED STORAGE SWITCH AND BCM TRANSIT MODE

All about the switch. It has a table that shows what functions are disabled or limited and on which vehicles.
Whats funny is on the cars it also disables the Consult DDL.

Also interesting that this switch was added only to Maximas built within the last two months. A little unusual to see this type change in the exact middle of a model year.

Can you please tell me where the panel is and what the "switch" looks like. Bought my Maxima today.

When you are sitting in the drivers seat, it is in front of your left knee.

I would love to have the beep beep from the key fob as opposed to having to touch the button on the door handle. The horn sound from the key fob is just annoying, especially when I am coning home late at night from work.

I totally agree with Schneid. What happens in "silent mode"? Does it not do anything when you lock at all? Or does it do a chirp instead of a horn honk when you lock from the fob?

I've tried it and it only silences the horn still no beep beep.
