USB Port Broken, can't get it fixed
Hey guys,
I have a '10 Premium + Tech, and ever since I got it in Sep 2009, dealerships cannot get it fixed. I've been in 3 times at one location and 2 times at another over the past year and a half.
They've changed the port, the fuse, and now they want to change the radio. But now they tell me the radio is on recall, I feel like that is a load of BS, since its the same radio in the Infinites and the 7th gen Maxima is everywhere now.
The 5 times I've been into both locations they have given it back to me broken. I can't believe their techs don't even plug something into the USB port to test it...
Can anyone give me some advise on getting a solution?

By broken I assume you mean it doesn't recognize anything. Does it provide a charge if you plug something in? Have you tried a range or devices (flash drives, phones, ipod, etc)? This might be crazy but could there be an option in the million menus that could turn it off?
Another possibility if they never removed the radio to check is that it may not be connected on the other end behind the radio. They might be replacing everything in the console area but never checking connection behind the radio.

Never had a problem with the USB. I even added a USB port for the ability to have more sources connected at once.
If the dealership is willing to provide you a replacement headunit, I'd take it. I thought I had a problem with my Navi and it ended up being my tint that was reflecting the satellites in my windshield. They replaced the headunit and the attenna before I had to take off the tint.
With the USB, I agree to make sure its plugged into the back of the headunit and to try various items to see if it just isnt reading your item.
If all fails, swap the unit. At least then you'll know where the problem lies. In the cable, your item your trying to plug or the headunit.

I've tried different devices and cables. It is as if the plug is completely dead. No charge to anything. I'll take a look through the menus today.
I would like to take a look at the head unit, as I want to ground for video eventually.
I'm curious to what the plug is like at the head unit. Is it just female USB port coming from the radio with an "extension" or is it a proprietary plug? How did you add an extra usb port?
