these are drilled/slotted rotors. the slots/holes are supposed to help with heat/dust dispersion but theres a lot of debate about whether its as effective as everyone thinks. the slots are more common on big brake kit rotors, the holes are primarily what gets debated cause it can weaken the structure of the rotor and theres less metal overall to disperse heat. my personal experience is that these + new ceramic pads + new brake fluid + goodridge stainless steel brake lines is a phenomenal improvement on stock. next time i need new stuff im gonna grab the 370z BBK

You think brake dust shields is an aight way to go to keep the area clean? Not trying to be particular but damnit that looks awful.
This rust spot on the roters is good to paint i did on past rotors and i did on this stillen big brake kit too, beacuse after about three weeks the parts that were not painted started to rust so i took my ride into Pro Customs an after market car shop told them to paint the roters where the calipers dont touch. they taped them and painted the whole inside gloss black. make sure to get high temp paint or else it wont stay. i dont know if they really taped the rotors, or just went arount the block and braked hard to clean off the eccess paint. hope this helps.

So should I just paint the "hat" of the rotor? Is it a bad thing to just go ahead and paint the whole rotor (even the part that the brake pads touch)? b/c it looks like more than just the hat part is rusty. Also I have heard of people accidentally painting the brake pads when they meant to just paint the caliper, if anyone has advice on how to tackle this, or can guide me to some youtube videos for this project, Id be eternally grateful!

there are actually a ton of videos on youtube about it; how do you think I learned?

id stick to just painting the surface where the pads don't touch, if you get a little in that area it's okay cause it'll burn off but i wouldnt get too much on that; not sure how that'd affect the brake pad (if at all) but better to play it safe

haha yeah youtube is a life saver

I went out and checked out my rotors and they dont really look that bad, and it also looks like my hat is already black so I may not really need to do much (maybe just paint the calipers black); Ghozt did the dupli-color paint stick to the calipers pretty well or is it just better to use G2 if I am just doing the calipers?
