Window Tint Laws by State
I'm going to relocate soon, thought I better know the local laws. Here's a good website:

Most tint places tell you all about the legal limits, so they are not held accountable for your illegal tint, I have 5% and live in GA and my car is registered in NY, NY allows 70% on the front windows, if you get a tint ticket you will get a ticket based on how dark your tint is, and if your darker then your state you register the car in, you most likely get a ticket, I want to tint my windshield but when a cop can't see into the car at all he will probably pull me over, and driving around in NY/NJ the cops will go out of their way to pull me over I've been told, many cops look the other way with tint, but certain things they don't.
Its all about luck, the area you live in, hang out in, work in, go to school in, and the cops that are around you, I only had one cop give me a warning at my previous college, and he told me if I did not remove the tint, when he saw me again he would stop me, that was early spring and I ignored him with the obvious OK answer, but I finished the spring and summer semester and never saw him again

I have waaaay darker than legal, and pay multiple tint tickets on multiple vehicles, and in some instances multiple times in a single year. We call it "the tint tax" around here. Po-9 has to get his quota, and we won't sacrifice getting our faces & interiors beat down by the FL sun.

that must be crazy driving into another state which has different tint laws then the one you just left. The law up here in Ontario allows for any shade on the rear windows but only 35% maximum on the front doors and nothing on the windshield. Mine are dark but I usually cruise with the sunroof open and front windows cracked to minimize the appearance of how dark they are lets just say the front windows go down as fast as possible when I spot 5-0 lol, got a few tickets in the past

To clarify: I don't recommend or encourage anyone to break any laws in any way, shape, or form. I personally enjoy my tint very dark due to having very light eyes and having repeat migraines of an exceptional magnitude due to exposure to bright light - not just sun, but even flourescent lights have made me dizzy & creat onset of migraines. I choose to have my tint darker than recommended due to its protection for my eyesight and also because I appreciate the look of a darker tint than that of which is recommended by FL statutes. Thus I expose myself to my previously mentioned "tint tax" and know those risks in which I run by having the tint this dark. Do not try this at home
