iPod Touch won't continue playback

Sometimes when I turn the car on, my iPod touch (current gen) won't play. I have to manually pick a song. Sometimes when I turn the car on, it continues where it left off. Seems like it happens more when the car has been off for a long time. Is there a setting or option I don't know about?

I already have the latest software in the ipod and the car.

This seemed to have helped me with my 2nd gen iTouch. I went to iTunes and reloaded firmware. Ever since I have been ok.

Open iTunes. In the left list, click on your device (iPod).
The home screen comes up with different buttons. There should be one for "Check for Updates" and another one named "Restore".
Click the "Restore" button and follow the wizard.

Choosing Restore may be a lot more than you want.

Is this an '11 model that let's you use a standard iPod cable? I had trouble with an off-brand, non-Apple cable but my connection problems ceased when I switched to the cable that came with my Touch.

Restore will clean your iPod, reload latest firmware. Not sure if it will restore your latest iTunes library. I manually manage mine.

I should say that my problems were with 09 Maxima SV premium with native apple connector. I could be listening to my iPod and the connection would completely drop. I had to unplug and plug the iPod to restore connection. These problems were resolved after I restored my iPod.

It's a 10. Yea I had a radioshack cord and the music had a vary faint crackle sound in the background. Changed to a apple cord and the non playback problem still persisted. Will try to restore it now. Thanks guys.
