Back in a Maxima

I've been a long time member and was not an owner since the end of '07. I traded in my '04 Max for an '08 Accord (4 cyl) and I just couldn't take it anymore. I missed the power and the luxury that the Max had to offer so I've been lurking Autotrader for the past few months.

I finally found one around my house. 2009 White S w/21k miles in mint condition. Paid $20k + taxes and fees. Surprisingly, the dealer offered me a really good deal on my trade in. I guess they're right about Hondas and their resale value.

Today is my second day of owning the beast and even though it's not the SV model, it's so much better than the Accord that i was driving. It's better in every aspect EXCEPT for the gas mileage. But that's part of the game. "You want more power? You gotta pay for it." I've been averaging 20 mpg (mixed highway and city driving) on premium fuel so it's something that I have to get use to. I've averaged about 25 mpg with the Accord on regular fuel so I'm noticing the change in the gas gauge.

The car came with splash guards and trunk mat, and nothing else. I really like the fact that the car was in mint condition and it has low mileage (it's considered low in my opinion). I'd post pics but by now, you've seen a stock Maxima so I'll wait until I've modded the car. I don't want to waste your time looking at something that you've seen a million times (although after seeing it a million and one times, it still looks hot!).

On the way back from a friend's house today, something bit me while driving. The mod bug got me!

Here is a list of items that I'll be adding to the car, hopefully within the next few months:

-White (5000k) interior and license plate LED lights
-Trunk Spoiler
-Eibach Springs

Within the next year, I hope to have the following done to my car:

-Black Roof (Painted or Overlays? I haven't decided yet)
-Black roof spoiler
-5000k HIDs (I'm not 100% sure if I want to go through all the hassle in
removing the front bumper, especially if I have to replace it again and again)

That pretty much it for now but I'm sure my mind will change in about a year from today. I look forward to reading more posts on this forum and also share my experience.

Thanks!

I've had a similar experience. I bought a 2007 Hyundai Sonata 4cyl. because I'm a commuter and I was tired of feeding my Explorer. When I bought the Max and started driving it I was overwhelmed at how much I'd been missing. So I can relate. And to think I did the 4 cyl. for 3-4 MPG--it was by no means worth it. I love this car and look forward to driving it. So welcome to your Max and welcome back amongst us.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I did check out Vleds but they're currently out of stock on the LEDs that I want. I just ordered from ebay and hope everything works out well. If not, oh well.... On to the next one.

Welcome back Bro, and we'll be looking forward to those pics. It would be like cutting off a leg for me to go back to a 4 cyl, I'm not sure how you stomached it for so long but the Max family accepts you back with open arms. LOL

Thanks. A lot of my co-workers were saying how they should have purchased a maxima for that price. I think I got a good deal. I hope I don't run into any issues since I hate waiting at the dealership and have to hear their BS once they've looked at the car.

welcome to the a35 community! the a35 is indeed a car that satisfies the emotions, a car that u look forward to washing.

this car is truly a diamond in the rough, a car that looks like 45k that u can get for 20k in the used car market. There is value to this car that satisfies emotions that only cars in the 50k+ range can.

Thanks! You nailed it!

The 7th gen is definately is a true diamond in the rough. Since the purchase, people ask me "is that your car?!".... These moments are pricless.

Congratulations on your purchase! Great color choice, I am looking for a white S myself, perhaps I'll wait now to check out the 2012 with the Limited package. I was curious about how the cloth interior is holding up, have you had any problems?

Good luck with the search!

I'm actually lovin' the cloth. Really. I told myself that the first thing I'll do is get leather for the max. I've seen aftermarket leather but did not find the one that truely matches the "red" stitching that's on the door panel. But then again, I've only seen about a handful of different samples so I could be wrong. Let me know if you come across such a place that has the exact same match.

Thanks!

I think I'll stick with the cloth. Do you have the black or beige interior?

Black.

Honestly, at this point I can care less about leather.... especially during the summer.

This is something that I'll consider when the time comes around.
