A35 design, up there with the exotics
A35 design, up there with the exotics
look at the jaguar sedans, aston sedans, the body styling of the a35 is truly not on par with it's direct competitors...but rather more on par with the exotics.
Every post bbmax makes is about trying to make the max more than it is. It's a 4 door sedan that looks semi-sporty. It's not exotic in anyway shape or form. Every middle class American can afford one which means it is not exotic... Around here exotic starts with Aston martins and Ferraris and goes to Rolls Royce. If it isn't made in Italy or Britan it's not exotic period.
Its actually pretty cheaply built, whenever I look at a more expensive car Im impressed how great the car is assembled, when I look at my Maxima Im waiting for the double sided tape to give out and watch the bumpers fall off
Don't let the uninspired folks get you down, BBmaxi; I agree with you that the styling on the 7th gen Maxima is more
advanced, aggressive and attractive than that of similarly priced vehicles. I have had several strangers walk up to my car,
raving about how nice it looks. Several had trouble believing it was a Nissan.
The naysayers are correct that the Maxima does not qualify as an 'exotic.' But then you never said it was. You said simply
that the body styling was more on a par with exotic vehicles than it was with normal Maxima competitors. Of course styling
is all in the eyes of the beholder, but I happen to agree with you.

ill agree it's not exactly on par with exotics but it definitely looks higher class than it is..in my opinion anyway. just this morning i got asked at least 4 times if it was an Infiniti M, and i cant count how many people have thought it was a lexus from a distance.
I think I know what the OP was trying to say...in my opinion it definitely doesn't have the body shape, style, or stance that you'd normally expect from a Nissan. I wouldn't classify it as exotic, because as others have said that is a much higher class of car, but it definitely still stands out especially considering it's MSRP. I've parked next to Lexus' and Benz' and my car easily looks the most expensive, when in reality it cost probably half what the cars its next to did. THAT is why I like my Max...not incredibly expensive but definitely looks and feels it...and the sporty/slightly aggressive stance is perfect for people wanting a "sports/sporty car" with more than 2 doors.
And yeah more than once I've had coworkers or strangers say they thought it was a Lexus at first. Might not be the right car for everyone, but sure as hell is the right one for me.

Its a good looking car, it grows on me everyday like my 6th Gen did, at certain angles it looks like a higher end luxury car, but its far from exotic, when I was a Nissan Tech the Maxima was the bang for your buck, with performance and handling, a few other have caught up to it, but thats the nature of the game
somewhat reminds them of the STYLING of some exotic cars. As styling is in the eye of the beholder, that makes such
a statement absolutely true for that person.
Each person has the right to decide this for themselves. Just because there are those who do not see the Maxima styling
as reminding them of the styling of some exotics does not mean it isn't true. It is just how they happen to see this.
My interpretation is it has more body curves and hips than your average "slab sided" vehicle in this range. When you're referring to curvy cars, you start looking more in the exotic lineup than in the Toyotas and Buicks of the world.
I got my 7 Gen Maxima for what it is, a very good car with lots of power, which is also extremley affordable. Looks better than most cars on the road that are in its class, Acura TL, Toyota AValon...etc. I will admit the stylng of these cars is way above its class, and so is the tech and the interior styling. Its also best bang for ur buck, My car has features on it that you would have to pay thousands extra for in a BMW or Mercedes.
build quality is another topic...but for those of you getting confused with the word exotic, I guess that's too strong of a word as most of you think lamborghini and ferrari when u hear exotic.
I'm thinking more along the lines of jaguar, audi, etc.

you kind of set yourself up for a beat down with making this thread. You should change the title to A35 design, up there with luxury cars ... that I could possibly agree with. Bentleys, ferrari, lambos, rolls, bugatti, aston martin etc will make most people stop and stare while the maxima might get a wink or two.
it's up to the individual if they want to participate in any of my threads, the term exotic can be interpreted in many ways.
some people may see the jaguar and aston martin's as exotics, I give the same amount of attention neck breaking to a a35 maxima as I do jaguars and astons and this is the reason why I bought the a35.
You just figure people would not automatically compare it to lamborghini's and ferrari's since they are so OBVIOUSLY different.

no it can NOT. I wouldn't even call a nissan GTR an exotic, let alone a jaguar. exotics are just that, murcielago's, enzo's, carrera GT's.... and your average jaguar is just a luxury car which YOU choose to call an exotic.
the 7th gen is not an exotic and definitely not a luxury car. its just a wannabe 4 door sports car/grocery getter, thats all.

whatever makes u feel more important, I'm not even going to get into this

The Maxima is no Exotic. I would consider it a Sports Luxury Car. I do like the direction that Nissan has gone with the Maxima. Although I think the rearend could use some tweeking.
My favorite Maxima Gens are as follows:
3rd Gen - True 4DSC - Best design IMO
5th Gen - Nice Style - Great power to weight ratio
7th Gen - Finally going back to its roots (4DSC)
Opinions about other generations:
1st & 2nd Gen - Great car introduced to the US Market
4th Gen - Was Butt Ugly - Meaning I hated the rearend on the car
6th Gen - Was big and heavy taking away it's nimbleness.

"The term "exotic" ALONE by definition means, in its purest form, "strikingly strange or unusual". Concepts that can be unilaterally or bilaterally applied to appearance of an object (as an adjective used to describe a person, place, or thing) or concepts that are exotic in nature -- as in a term used to describe an overall feeling evoked by an idea that lead individuals to an assessment of an object as producing a sensation of foreign or alien -- are easily described as exotic." ~ Exotic Cars 101

I'd call the skyline the exotic, but QT1 5MT AE has a 5th gen and knows exactly what exotic cars are.
autotrader.com lists the lamborghini gallardo as a "luxury car" so who knows what ?
I find it funny when people get so angst about labeling something "exotic" while they give the thumbs up to billet grilles, nascar flames, hood skull mascots, chrome bling wheels, and the treacherous lip spoiler...and lastly, owning a 4th, 5th, or 6th gen maxima.

Would you say the Skyline is exotic?

People don't agree with your 7th gen sack-rider antics and now you're getting butt hurt bout it?
Liking flames and chrome is a personal choice, opinion, preference. Defining an exotic usually isn't.

You guys are haters. When some other dude posted the thread of the photo shopped Max with Maserati emblems, everyone praised the guy. Now BBmaxi makes a simple comment and everyone suddenly thinks their Max is cheap. Wow.
