Exotic? Really, what exotic car does this gen Maxima compare to? When I hear exotic cars, I am thinking more like super cars such as Lambo, Ferari, Aston, etc., etc.

You either like your car very much but are out of tune as to what exotic car really looks like!!! Don't get me wrong, it is very nice looking car but exotic? That's a bit of reach!

I know this is a massive bump, but while reading through this I decided to look up the jaguar sedan, I see them all of the time at my work and OMG are they awesome.

However

And then look at this

The same? Hell no, but I mean it would be crazy to say that they are WORLDS APART.

When i first got my Maxima back in 2010 i was the only one in my city of 100,000 people with one. People would constantly stop me and ask what it was. I couldn't sit at a stop light without someone walking around back to try and figure out what it was. So i debadged it lol. Some one once asked me if it was an Aston Martin. Pretty much made my week. Now that they are poping up everything, I am thankful that this site is available to help me come up with ideals to make it original.

THis kind of reminds me of a recurring discussion point on Camaro5.org about the new camaro not being a Lamborghini (although its arguably as fun to drive as one and may attract a similar level of attention), but at the end of the day, its a car for the masses.

A Camaro being as fun to drive as a Lamborghini? That's hard to believe.

It's the shape and way the car flows, not the name or price tag.

20 x 8.5 and 9.5 +20 all around, pretty low offsets for a maxima.

also have a 3mm spacer at the front to.

the rear fender quarters are shaved. 245 35 20 all around.

There are so many bad *** cars to buy in the 30-45k price range. Honestly, I'd take one of these and try to make it as exotic is possible. Not with underglow and butterfly doors but with rims like that, and plenty of small yet impactful modifications.

Anyone else have a real nice looking max that style?

That comes down to the owner's definition of "small yet impactful modifications". Something minor to one, could be a decent mods to the other.

I personally am going to stick with smaller mods for now due to needing another DD soon and planning for a wedding next year. I am hoping on possibly going a little more aggressive by next year's car season with some of the stuff I am doing.

I am going to get the Stillen lip and probably, a 10" sub in the trunk for a little more punch, and paint the calipers. That will be it this year more than likely.

Yeah, we seem to have a lot of people who joined the forum just to flame others. (GROW UP)!!

BBMaxi made a watered down observation (not a direct comparison to an exotic) and while most of us understand that the Maxima doesn't live up to its' 4DSC moniker and isn't trying to be an exotic in any sense of the word-we do however on the other hand recognize that it does tend to stand out in a crowd.

My car has been mistaken for a Lexus and many people have asked me what it is even though the name is on the back of it and they can see the Nissan emblems.

Don't sweat it BBMaxi, some guys just haven't learned how to disagree without being jerks about it.

haha. My max is called WHYTGRL aka "Neck Breaker" cuz everywhere i go and i mean everywhere, people that are sitting out on patios eating or on the corner when i'm cruising by will just sit at stare as i go by trying to figure out what kind of car it is. people approach it when i'm parked outside of restaurants or approach me and ask what model nissan it is. the wheels get the biggest compliment and set off the car.

I'm happy with my purchase. I too need to finish my system in the Max, maybe today if I'm not too tired after work. and she will be finished for a while.

In 4 months, not a single person has even noticed my car. Tough crowd around here. I may start cruising the High School lots.

I know what you mean. Especially when they start pointing and trying to get their buddy's attention as I'm driving past. They'll ask if it's an Infinity (the upper billet grill throws them everytime) and when I tell them it's a Max they say "holy Sh*t! no way".

That just means it's time to start modding.

I have a 4th gen that is all black, stillen lip kit (Ionic rear valances, and R34 skirts, so only a stillen lip) with black 19's and my newest addition- PAINTED RED CALIPERS.

I will tell you, the car doesn't look exotic in my book, but its nice enough for people to notice and ask "Wtf is that".

Granted, if I was driving next to a ferrari no one would care, but as a casual care it gets a lot of attention.

Seriously envious of you 7th gen owners, one day I will have one! Too afraid to finance ATM (No job security lol)

Btw sorry if this has already been a coined term but

Maxima.....Maserati.

maybe its all about the demographics where you live and your overall location, because to be honest, most people dont really give my car a second look. its a great looking car i agree, for the most part, and does stand out when its parked next to other cars in its segment, even compared to 6th gens i think.

but does it compare to luxury vehicles in design? Some maybe. My girlfriend had a Jag XF briefly, and i think that was a classy, double-take kind of design, especially the Aston style rear end. Would i look at a 7th gen if it was parked next to an XF? probably not. There are still some elements that make the Maxima still just a upper-mid level japanese car.

Ive had many more people do a double take or take notice of my RS6 when i had it than my maxima, and that was a 9+ year old seriously outdated Audi design, and it would take a real enthusiast to know the difference between an RS6 and a A6 4.2 at a glance.

rims and a kit will make it stand out more sure, and hell the Maxima is nicer than a G IMO too, but i think it stands out in its segment, but its reach doesnt go much beyond that.
