Feedback for Service Recommendations

Guys

Need some feedback from you by tomorrow. I am taking the Max in for a standard oil change, but i am at 30k and last time I was in, they "recommended" to do all these services. Wanted to see what people actually think is worth getting done. I listed the service and pricing:

Fuel Induction Service - $119.99
Fuel Injector Service - $119.99
Throttle Body Service - $119.99
Mist Service (WTF is this?) - $79.99
POwer Steering Flush - $159.99

By no means am I a sucker, but I am no tech either. I am thinking just getting the fuel injector service done, and this "Mist" thing which they claim they replace the filter etc. Wouldnt the induction and injector service be the same thing? Just not trying to get taken for a ride.

thoughts?

If it isn't running poorly, I would skip all but the filters and perhaps, (and I am a bit surprised they didn't mention it) depending on your driving style, CVT fluid flush. The rest seems way over the top to me and I too have never heard of the "mist service."

I would get the Trans fluid changed and Radiator fluid changed, my dealer has a Fuel Injector Service for 249, which is both the Injector and Inductor Service, and my service writer said if you put quality gas in your car and monitor your gas mileage, don't get it done, my buddy took his Dodge Ram in for the BG44K service and with 100k on his engine did not notice an increase in gas mileage, if you google those 2 service the biggest complaint is people are paying and not seeing a result in better gas mileage

Throttle Body, if your running good gas this is not gonna improve anything, I would not have it performed.

Mist service, don't do looks like nothing more then a money maker.

Power Steering Flush, might as well be a good time to pick up some PSF or whatever is recommended for the 09 and just suck it out with a turkey baster and fill it back up every oil change or every other

My recommendations are the CVT/Trans and Radiator, skip having them change your wipers, I found the OEM wipers to be horrible, good at 1st but not worth the money, buy Bosch replacements.

Lets us know how it goes, Im gonna be coming up to 30k soon

so...........after all of this, i just went with the Oil Change and air filter. I am "friendly" with one of the techs at the desk there, and he basically told me the same thing as above. He said if your MPG arent taking a hit, there is no point of doing them. i am currently getting 23-27mpg which i think is decent bc of how i drive. I asked about the CVT and they said you shouldnt really do it prior to 100k. so my bill today was a whoppping $35.

My advice, same as above. If you are running well, MPG are good, dont fix what aint broken

no. they are voluntary services that you decide if you want or not. the warranty covers only non wear and tear things. the services most of the time are preventative maintenance........and a money maker for them.

Im going in tomorrow at 15000mi, and the advisor said they recommend injector service ($129)...I use Costco gas 95% of the time. No knocks, but that seems crazy that not even a full year later, they are recommending this service... thoughts?

Dealers make $$$$$$ on service. My Infiniti I35 went 180K ( still going ) and I never changed the tranny fluid , spark plugs or wires in 11 year sof ownership ( bought it new)

I did the coolant and belts at 60K and 130K and the oil every 3750

I plan on doing the 3750 and 7500 services on my new Maxima until I hit 60K at which point I will consider doing more

If you do not do the recommended service and something goes wrong with the car, I believe the dealership can deny warranty service because the car was not maintained.. Is that correct??

All gasoline's now have detergents whose job is to clean the fuel system and ejectors. So unless you are noticing poor performance you should not blow your money for the sake of dealer profits.

Here at the dealership dropping off the car and the service advisor I normally deal with said not to do it if you aren't feeling any sort of power loss. Anyways I got suckered in to replacing the air and cabin filters ...

I would not do it, and I was a tech for Nissan at one time, if your running regular from sams club or costco you probably will see a mileage improvement but your better off just using a name brand premium, drive another 15 and don't worry

I'm sure you know this already, but you can swap these out yourself very easily. I did my in cabin filter a week ago. The filter cost like $12 from Autozone.

I'm sure they wish they could but unless you never changed the oil or really abused the car they have to honor the warranty. The basic Nisss\an 3750 mile service is $25 and the 7500 is $60................All those other services are pure $$$ makers for the deaership

The CVT is now out of warranty before any maint is reccomended

If you drive on paved roads, do not regularly pull a trailer or drive very steep roads, I would let the CVT fluid go to 60K, but not the 100K someone told you. The dealer should be able to check the fluid and know if it really needs changing.

Changing the CVT fluid at 30K under normal driving conditions (as some here on the ORG do) is sort of like changing the oil at 2K miles . . won't hurt a thing, makes you feel good about babying your car, but isn't necessary. Some wait to 45K, which is better. But Nissan specifies checking it at 60K for NORMAL maintenance under NORMAL driving conditions..

We put 91,000 miles on a 2007 Maxima SE. Most I did was change syn oil & filter every 5-6,000 miles, air filter every 12,000 and flushed the radiator at 50,000. Never changed the CVT fluid.
If a dealer recommends a service, it is usually a money maker for the dealer and a waste of your $$$.
I'm following same plan with the 2012 SV which now has 29,000 uneventful miles.
Good luck.
