Let's talk STB
Let's talk STB
I'm about to buy a STB, and I'm looking at either the Stillen or the Racinglineperformance one. I already have a Stillen intake installed and it looks like both will fit over top of it. Aside from any discussion about cutting the plastic covers(which I don't have on anyway), are there any opinions about either of these? Is there one that seems better that I don't know about? Thanks
Everyone has their reasons for choosing one over the other. I chose the Racingline STB because a) liked the fact it uses a 3-point mounting bracket instead of 2 and b) the matte black finish option (which the Stillen didn't have).
I'm leaning towards the racingline because of the 3 bolt connection as well. I was searching the forum and found a thread from last year where some people really had issues with the racingline and how it connects, and having to drill holes or that it doesn't line up at all, did you have that problem with yours?

my only issue with Racingline is when they go outta stock they're outta stock for like a year or more...and sometimes can take a LONG time for shipping...took like 2 months to get my Y pipe gaskets...but yeah price/quality wise they're the best IMO
As of today, they're in stock though...
lol if they got em I say order NOW ... the rear sway bar took so long to get back in stock I just grabbed the Stillen one and called it a day. when I ordered my strut bar it did come quickly, so it's definitely a crapshoot with them. love the parts just maybe they cant keep up with demand
One thing you will notice with the Racingline FSTB is how close the tolerances are to the upper intake manifold plenum. I might have 1mm clearance between the bottom of the FSTB and the manifold. It's a tight fit, but looks real clean.
WOW, that wasn't too bad of an install. First off, I've heard horror stories about how Racingline takes forever to ship, and about how ridiculous the STB install is, but from my experience, it shipped quickly and the install wasn't as bad as I thought. You were right on the clearance though, holy smokes it's tight. I thought I was going to hit as I was cranking down on the bolts. The only problem I had with the install was the bracket on the passenger side. My holes didn't move as I replaced each bolt as I removed the stock ones, but damn it took me 30 min. to get the screws to go in with the bracket, you really have to mess with it to get it in. The driver side wasn't bad, almost fit perfectly. All in all, I'm happy with it. Thanks for the heads up fellas and props to Racingline, I'll be buying a few more things from them soon, like the trunk light for starters and the Y pipe. Big thumbs up.

Honestly I really haven't had much beef with Racingline. My FSTB had a goof in the shipping, but they rectified it quickly and without any issues. Funny you mention the passenger side bracket being a PITA. Mine was the same way
Now order those endlinks and an RSB if you haven't done so already!

And here is the Stillen RSB.

ooooohhh, sway bars. I was thinking you were referring to some sort of rear strut brace to bolt on, I had all kinds of questions about that. LOL I think my next mod will be the trunk light, and save up for exhaust. I'm still torn between stillen and Borla. The stillen cat-back was my original thought for sound and performance, but everyone talks about the rust. Hell, I live in Texas, we ain't seen rain in forever, so I'm not sure rust would really be a problem.

My Stillen full cat-back is sitting in my living room, waiting to be installed tomorrow morning. Stillen get's a bad rap for rust, but no exhaust is going to look show-car clean if it's a DD in rain, snow, etc. Going to take some sound clips this weekend after I get the Stillen CBE on so folks can have a better idea of how it sounds inside the car, under load, etc.
Oooo, sweet! I definitely want to hear!! I'd love to have the stillen cbe, it looks nice and heard that it sounds really great too. Get some good pics/video of how it looks(how far down it hangs, how far out, etc.) so I can get a better feel for it. You got the Y pipe I'm assuming too(that comes with the cat-back?)?
