One thing that bugs me

Ok, two things that bug me.

1) The secret compartment under the trunk mat. A little tray for a few knick-knacks aside from the emergency kit, but is there a more elegant way to gain access to it aside from yanking up the entire trunk carpet, and then everything in the trunk tumbles down into the cavity? I'm probably doing it wrong, but this 'feature' seems goofy (and it was an extra-cost option!)

2) Why a single CD player? Why no 6+ disc option, especially with the technology pack? I spent the last 12 years pushing a button to switch CDs, and now I have to stash a ton of them in the glove box so I can change if I want. Seems like a big step back. Am I wrong?

for 2, the S comes with a 6 disc changer.. but it takes more time for the system to change CDs than it would to manually do it..

Here I am wishing I didn't have a 6 disk, instead I would have referred a usb port.

Its the trunk.... I suppose that where the thought process stopped. A more nifty access would be nice.

For #2, you have the hard drive system right? Their thoughts is you copy your CD to the hard drive and never need to jack with those stupid plastic disks. I copied all mine and never looked at the CD's again. good riddance!!!!

@aldente - no offense meant here but...it's 2012. CDs are a thing of the past. Go digital (iPod/iPhone/android/mp3 player/etc) and you won't miss the CDs one bit. Or use the music box/hdd as mentioned by compusmurf. I personally haven't played a cd in my own car in almost 5 years.

That said - I've only had my 2012 prem/tech for a month. The things I find annoying are:

1) rear seat headroom. Nissan really could have done a better job here. And yes, it would probably require changes to the body....but it's just real right back there for anyone 6'2" or taller. (although, I probably will seldom ride back there so...not really my problem )

2) Bluetooth audio - some flakiness when playing music from my iPhone over Bluetooth (skips occasionally). This might be a problem with the iPhone, though. USB connection works fine, but no voice recognition for picking songs (have to use Siri which only works on bluetooth)

Ya same here, it sucks.

Sometimes...no in fact a lot of times id rather have the old school ***** with one to control the temp and one to control the level. Works so much faster and less things to break.

I love the hard drive but I do wish there was a USB port

That and the speedometer are the only two things I would change about my Maxima.

Ahhh, the copy CD function is one feature I have not had time to try out. Thanks for the heads up!

I'm old, so I don't have fancy gadgets like iPods and such. When I cleaned out the trade-in, I even had a few cassette tapes in the pile of stuff.

I honestly told the salesman I didn't want the tech package, as I had no use for most of it, but all of his SV with Premium packs had tech, and I didn't want to get into special ordering.

I think I'll really like it once I have a chance to get it going.

I'm like you, in that I'm not into all these new gadgets. But this Nissan music box is great.

I think you will like this music box (music stored on the hard drive). I loaded up around three or four dozen CDs the first month I had the car. It takes about ten minutes for the system to store each CD. Little numbers on the screen tell you what track is being copied at that moment, and the process is refined enough to not be spoiled should we be making stops and turning the motor on and off.

I stored all my CDs away in a cabinet three years ago, but have all my music available any time I get in the car. I love it. Especially after I found out the right radio **** enabled me to scroll amongst the CDs I have stored in my music box.

It has been three years since I loaded my CDs to my music box, but, as I recall, all I did was slip the CD into the CD slot and push a little record button. When the little display said the recording was done, I ejected the CD and slipped in another one.

If you run into trouble, there are many posters here who can help us.

The AC comes on whenever you use defrost by design. There's a physics law or principle that explains it, but in easy terms this:

Cold air can't hold as much water as warm air. So blowing warm, moist air on a cold windshield would only cause the air to cool and, as a result, cause water to condense on the windshield.
The solution, therefore, is to blow warm, dry air on the inside of the windshield to clear it. In this case, the AC unit acts as a dehumidifier.

There is an option in the menu system to tell the recorder to AUTOMATICALLY record any new CD that's inserted into the drive to record. So when you slot one in, it checks the hard disk to see if it's already copied, if not, it records without you having to do anything else.

No button press needed!

I have a 6CD changer in my SV, it just doesn't have the Nav package. Nav equiped Max's have the single CD player.

An issue I had was after having the max in for the nav update, it did something strange and seemed to dump some music album titles (or moved them) that were previously loaded in the music box?
Still trying to figure it out.

I haven't seen that problem mentioned here before. I did not notice this after my nav update. But I have an '09, and I seem to recall Nissan changing the way the nav is updated between the '09 and '10 model years.

Because the HDD take the place of the changer unit, physically. They probably couldn't fit both in the limited space. My sales guy made a big point that the nav system w/ Music Box eliminates the changer.

An HDD that can hold dozens (hundreds?) of CDs is probably seen as a higher value option vs. a CD changer as well. I had a CD changer in one of my cars and almost never used it - and this was before MP3 players were main stream. I'd definitely choose an HDD to store music over the CD changer. The only bummer is that you can't transfer digital files from memory media to the HDD....

That's why it's called the TECHNOLOGY PACKAGE. If it was too much for you to have and use your hard drive or usb and you rather have a 6-changer, get a different model or package and better know what you want when you are looking to purchase a car.........Done. ;-) Thanks for your time.

I agree with your last sentance. To get around that I'm using 8G USB thumbdrives loaded with songs to supplement the musuic box.
These thumbdrives are becoming so inexpensive (and hold more data) that you can have a butt-load of them on hand.
