Not happy with look of new wheels

Actually, I think the wheels themselves look awesome (20" machined Nurburgrings), but once the shop mounted them and put the balancing weights on, it looks pretty bad. One wheel has a strip of 9 weights in a row!!! Is this normal? Since the wheel is pretty open, these balancing weights are very visible since they are light grey and the inside hub of the wheel is gunmetal. Any ideas on how to hide the weights?

You could see about painting them and putting them pretty far back in the lip. Since the inside of my lip is black, they painted the weights black and stuck them in the back. I will try to get pics tomorrow for you.

Plastidip would be great for something like that.

See if they can spoke balance the wheels. Most places hate doing it cuz it takes longer and can use more weights but most shops can do it. It puts the weights on the actual spokes and u can't see them. Downside is if they don't clean the surfaces really well the weights could fall off due to the inertia and the weights stuck on vertically and not horizontal.

Having once worked at a tire distributor I have had this problem many times. The problem is the person mounting the tire. First its not his fault. more than likely he's just not had enough experience. Maybe he has. First take it back to the place you bought and ask them to redo it and that your not happy with it. Also second is if you unmount(not completely, just break the bead where the tire spins freely on the rim) the tire and mark a spot on the sidewall and a very small spot of chalk on the wheel (chalk should wipe right off, don't let them use a grease pen) and spin the tire 180* around and re mount the tire on the rim it should take care of most of the balance problem. If not completely(and that would be unusual if it did) fixed it will at least reduce the amount of weights needed to balance the package. Again this is a "should work" process. All depends on how true the wheels are manufactered. Most of the time (like 90%) this will fix the problem. Then you don't have near as many weights showing on the back of the rim.
Just a thought. Hope all works out.

The nurburgrings were my second choice, but I ended up going with the londrinas. Please post some pics of your car would love to see how they look and the issue that you are having. I also have like 5 or 6 weights on one if not more of my wheels but really havent paid attention to them. must not be that noticable.

We had to put duct-tape on our wheel weights on motorcycles for track prep. We used black and usually blended in pretty decent...
Just an idea

I'm curious to see the pictures, but as someone else said, you should be able to take the car back and have them either rebalance or move the weights around.

Jesus that's a lot of weight to balance everything. What tires are you running on the Nurbs?

Do exactly what Donhd04 said

Whoever balanced ur wheels should of
Know that much weight is unacceptable, have they break the bead like said above and spin tire n rebalance. It will fix it.
Other option is if u kno a place to have that wheel done on a
road force balance machine. This will get it exactly perfect

I got all my wheels delivered balanced and all were off. Had
My friend road force balanc them and took less weight and he just had to break bead and spin tire where machine said to. All came
Out perfect and less weights

that does seem like a lot of weights. same thing with me and my Rays though, had em balanced and now i got a few stupid *** looking weights clearly visible. i try to pick and choose my battles in life though, otherwise I'd constantly be angry about car stuff not being perfect lol

To answer a couple of questions...1) the weights in question are right behind the spokes, not at the very back of the wheel. 2) I have Kumho Ecsta 4 tires.

Forgot to mention earlier. Apparently a couple of the weights were removed and relocated and the "sticker" was left on the wheel where the weight previously were. Overall, it seemed to be a sloppy job.

I tried submitting a picture from my phone but was unable to. I'll keep working on getting a picture on here.

Update...I also found were the shop used a screwdriver to remove some weights and scratched the wheel (they had to take weights off because they had to re-balance the two back tires from mounted them backwards the first time). Anyway, I took my Max to another shop and they removed all the weights, removed the "stickers" the other shop left on there, and then re-balanced the wheels and put the weights on the back of the wheel. Looks MUCH more clean! Best $34 dollars I ever spent. I will be calling the other shop manager tomorrow morning.

Post some pics of your car with the wheels.

I didn't have any issues at all balancing my Nurburgrings.
