Why no Sport pack + Premium pack as an option?

Why no Sport pack + Premium pack as an option?

I wanted the darker/larger rims from the Sport option, but ended up taking the Premium. The other cosmetics are manageable in the Sport package. Dealer absolutely would not do a wheel swap, saying it was not allowed. I think he just didn't want to be bothered, even though I would have paid any difference.

Why doesn't Nissan allow mixing of options like this?

i think a fair amount of people agree with you. some guys have been able to convince the dealer to let them get the 19's from another car on the lot, if it wasnt allowed at that specific place that isnt how everyone handles it. if they thought you were going to walk out without buying it because there weren't 19's I bet they'd have angrily "made an exception" lol. just have to be okay with pissing off the sales guy because his job is to get as much commission as possible and yours is to make sure he gets as close to 0 as possible.

From the customer's viewpoint, what you say sounds reasonable. But we need to look at this from both Nissan's and the dealer's viewpoint. I am not a dealer, but have had close dealings with Datsun/Nissan dealers since back in the 1970s.

The only ethical way the dealer could have made the swap would be to buy the darker wheels from Nissan. That would have cost more than any profit he might have made on selling you the car. These wheels are expensive. He absolutely should NEVER be swapping them off a sport edition Maxima on his lot. That would leave him with a sport Maxima that was NOT a sport Maxima. Very tricky business that always leads to later headaches.

Nissan cannot make this an option because that would double the number of cars that needed to be on the dealer's lot in order to have every version on hand.

The whole purpose of 'sport' vs 'premium' is to have cars that go entirely in different directions. The more-sporty darker wheels are not in keeping with the 'premium' image. Likewise, the brighter premium wheels do not look very 'sporty' on the sport Maxima. If customers want the darker wheels badly enough, they need to either swap with someone online or buy a darker set from someone.

I know this sounded like a fairly simple swap, but nothing in this world is ever that simple.

I struggled with the decision between the Sport and Premium package but ultimately decided I liked the cherry wood trim and the dual roof set up over the bigger wheels and spoiler. I think the Sport is the more attractive of the two options but I'll always be on the inside driving it, not looking at it being driven.

I opted for the sport package, but I would have loved if they made a sport premium package. In my mind a sport premium would start with a sport then added the panoramic sunroof, power rear sunshade, auto up/down rear windows(although I think they deleted them from the premium on 2012's) and cooled driver's seat.

I was so close to getting the Black Sport. I'm hoping that when it comes time for me to get a new Max, they'll have a Sport Prem Package.

This would not be a Nissan option, but some large dealers can do this for those willing to pay, especially if a sale is depending on it. They simply order the 19" wheels and tires and mount them on the car, then take the 18" wheels and tires that came on the car and add them back into their inventory. This would be done before the 18" tires that came on the car have been driven more than a few miles, otherwise they could not then be resold as new.

The dealer would reduce the price of the 19" tires and wheels because he is getting new 18" tires and wheels he can have in his stockroom to sell.

I would have paid the difference in cost between the 18 and 19"wheels, not 2k of course, but whatever actual cost. How much could it be?

I did install the spoiler at my own cost - $400. They did not have a white SV that had the spoiler. Should have negotiated this in, but oh well.

My 2010 Premium+Tech has 19s. Bought it used, it was a former Nissan corporate car. Salesman said it was an option in 2010 to upgrade to 19s.
