New Drop-in Filter

Just bought the aFe drop-in dry filter from Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o00_s00_i00

Been in for a couple of weeks. So far, so good. I wanted something a little more maintenance-free. Just wash, let dry and pop it back in.

Ah snap! I've been totally waiting to get this sucker. Got about 6,000 more miles then I can replace my drop in.

Any thoughts or opinions? Do you notice any performance gains? Mpg increase? Slight intake hiss?

Very interesting. I just went to their website and see they have 2 applications for the 6thgen. One that is oiled and one that is dry. I would like your review on the filter. If it is any different from regular paper filters, I would love to buy one for my car. Though it is sooooo expensive at $66.10 plus shipping or so.

So, let us know your review.

Ok, I dont' know this. On the link you provided, that same filter fits the 2008 Maxima. Is that right? Is the 2008 air filter the same like the air filter for a 2010? Can someone please tell me?

If I don't get this response in time, I will call the dealership tomorrow to find out.

On that link on Amazon, according to that sales-page, that filter fits the 2010 and the 2008 Maxima. Is this correct? That the 2008 and 2010 use the same air filter?

I just searched the web and could not find much reviews. But I got this from the BMW forum. Very excellent reviews. I might get this filter and try it out. It is washable, so that is good.

Keep us posted about your own personal experience so far.

Alternative. The afe dry filter does not require any oiling.

People don't like oiled air filter due to the tendency to dirty the MAF sensor. Plus, no oil is much less work than having to de-oil and re-oil the filter when cleaning it.
