Quick Update of My Max

Fairly new 2012 LE Maxima owner here. So far my mods are as follows:
-Plasti dipped grille.
-All interior bulbs replaced with LED, as well as the corner markers in the headlights, the license plate lights, and reverse lights.
-3000k HID fogs
-Black vinyl on the trunk trim and rear valance
-Plasti dipped badges

Just wanted to share a few pics. (From my iPhone so be gentle )

I want to see someone plastic-dip their car or section of it!! Maybe instead of vinyl, you can be the guy that does it lol. I have watched a ton of videos on it, and if my car wasn't freaking black, I'd be all over it. In fact, I may even do some of it to see if it looks good, but it is not as noticeable on a black car, and the colors they have aren't for me.

BE BOLD, BE DARING, GO WHERE NO 7TH GEN's GONE BEFORE lol!

I like plasti dip for accents but I don't know how I'd feel about a whole section. I was going to try to dip the roof but vinyl gives a much cleaner result. I'm using it for the window trim and lower front grille areas though.

Let me know how the vinyl on the rear valence holds up. Some people have wondered how /if the heat from the exhaust would cause any issues with it.

I like it a lot. It looks very good, especially the blacked out lower rear valance on the Winter Frost. My only change would be to loose or relocate the "maxima" logo, kinda makes the rear view unbalanced to me.

Ill keep everyone updated for sure. Have some more stuff going on next weekend including the roof, the lower front grille being blacked, and the chrome window trim being blacked out.

I ordered new emblems to paint gloss black to have a cleaner result than the plasti dip produced. I will make a game time decision as to whether i will leave the maxima badge off or paint it and put it on.

am also changing out the front and rear turn signals with chrome ones. the fronts will light up xenon white to match with the headlights and the white led marker lights I have already added(white turn signals are legal in NJ) and the rears will blink red.

after that round of mods I am looking to replace my speakers with aftermarket amplified ones, and do coil overs and black or gunmetal 20's.

I am looking for a style similar to the current wheels on the car, or closer to the 08 tl type s wheels, so if anybody has any suggestions for wheels with that style in a dark color please link me!

Thanks I appreciate it. The biggest problem I had was getting a smooth line along the edges. It's not perfect but damn near close. As far as getting in there with the plasti dip it was pretty easy you just have to make sure you hit it from several angles. I'm sure underneath the horizontal bars on the grille I didn't get everything but the only way you would see that is if you were under my tire haha.

Im going to be spraying the window trim black and the black vinyl roof will going on within the next month. I am also redoing my emblems on the trunk because it's a pretty crappy job honestly. from a few feet away it looks fine but I'm not satisfied.

After that I am going to be purchasing new speakers to replace the stock ones, and coilovers will come after that.

Since the lower grill can't be removed as with the main grill, you need to get good blue painters tape and frame it out carefully. Then, when you spray on the dip, pull the tape off immediately to form cleaner lines.
This is opposite to the main grill, where you spray on 4 or 5 layers and let them dry in between.

Worked out well for me.

I have to add an addendum here. Its easy to remove all but TWO of those plastic clips, the 2 in the lower center of the grille. I even have small hands ands my arms got TORE UP trying to reach down in there and pop those out.
